Food / Eat goulash from a cat and a steak from a dog in Poland! [114]

Jakub Pham is a Pole, but his parents come from Vietnam. Every country has its customs; he eats cat and dog's meat.
He heard about the closing of an animal shelter in Celestynowo, and got an idea of openning a restaurant in Poland, which serves our pets' meat.

Many organizations fight to prevent opening such a place. Animal shelters consider not letting Asians adopt dogs and cats.

Food / Taste of food in Poland vs other countries [186]

Could you elaborate ?

Elaborate? Hm. Spices used are always the same and only a few of them, salt and paper mainly.
Try other cusines, and you'll know what i am talking about.
I am not saying it's not good. I am saying it is bland in comparison.

Food / Taste of food in Poland vs other countries [186]

Do you find a food in Poland more strongly flavoured than in your country's?

Polish food is pretty bland. Not enough spiced up and flavored.

Law / WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE EURO CURRENCY TO POLAND? [101]

EU seems more shaky to many Poles than ever before. Is this indeed the case? Was the recession to blame or has the EU idea simply spent itself and run out of steam?

EU will not survive. It was meant to collapse since the beginning.

Language / Diminutives (zdrobnienie) for Sylwia [12]

Sylwia?

I have a friend named Sylwia. I call her sometimes SylwuĹ›, Sylwunia, Sylwek (Sylwek is diminutive for Sylwester, but I like calling her that; just like Kasia-Kasiek).

Life / Winter in Poland? [161]

You'll need shoes for when the sidewalks and streets are icy. If you're not used to it then it can be a big adjustment.

Believe it or not, but Poles do wear shoes! Every day! Cold or warm! Yes, I know, it's surprising.
If you're not used to wearing shoes, well, I wish you good luck and all the best. You just have to adjust.

Golabki

Do you have dolma in mind? It's with grape leaves.

gerkhins

Cacik & mizeria?

kopytki

How come?

but above all surowka with nearly every main meal.

Very true. Turks add lemon to everything. Even to a chicken soup! LOL
Polish food is more bland, while Turkish is more tasty.

History / Was Daniel Fahrenheit a Pole? [138]

Scientists will dig out Fahrenheit parents' remains to find out more about the scientist himself. It's an excellent ocassion to check their DNA.

History / Was Daniel Fahrenheit a Pole? [138]

I used wiki as a source

It's the first thing to pop up.
:)
Wiki has its references, so it is borrowed from somewhere else.

"Modern Nietzsche scholarship does not believe in the legend of noble Polish ancestry"

You know what people say about believes.
;)

Talking about the past. Europe was a "mess". Countries were changing its borders often, people migrated.

I can provide many more sites stating that he was a German. I want you to provide just one stating that he was a Pole, PP.

He said that about himself. Wiki source.
