Life / Reasons for moving to Poland [291]

3) Polish people are not spoiled, they are well mannered, I prefer my future kids to be brought up in a less materialistic, celebrity obessed society which UK and Ireland has become.

Not true...its the same as anywhere. Polish TV is just as obsessive plus they like the USA and UK stuff too.

7) Polands health service is ten times better than the NHS in this country. The dentists in poland dont rip you off

Ten times? That's optimistic unless you are talking Private clinics which are very good. And there are crooked dentists here just like everywhere.

I would ask you to come here again after a couple years of living here and revise your list. I am quite sure it will not be so shiny :)

The grass is always more zielona on the other side of the fence.

Life / POLISH YOUTH compared to the youth in other Western countries? [57]

Oh come on now. We all know that Poland is just generally better than most countries. I am sure that they are MUCH better at abusing drugs alcohol and being promiscuous. I am also sure there is a study somewhere to prove this.

P.S. I am just joking...not a single drop of seriousness of malice in my words ;)

After all...everyone knows that Canadians are the biggest alcoholics and drug abusers in the world....

P.S. Joking again...it is really the Brits.

UK, Ireland / Britain... What the Poles did for us. [444]

Thanks for the honesty. But as you said it would be the same here and probably will be when more asians and africans immigrate in. The workers needed for the Euro events will probably bring a ton of Chinese workers and I know they will be treated the same as Poles are in UK and probably by people that have been to the UK and know how it feels. It is how people are.

Can you honestly say if Poland was full of immigrants that they wouldn't be treated the same as Poles are now treated in England? I am not justifying poor treatment of people but I want to see if there is any honesty here.

Because your cuisine sucks. As well as the whether. Not to mention you have too many costume dramas on TV. Oh, God, we can go in circles about this. Sigh.

When are you coming by to get the rest of your stuff?

You did not mean it in a funny way at all so don't try to backtrack now. You meant it as an insult. Honestly is not your forte.

Law / Poland - Temporary Residence card - Karta pobytu - required documents [142]

A few people in the immigration office told me that after the first of the year EU members no longer need a Karta Pobytu as it is now. Now to be fair others have said this is not true or they haven't heard it. If it IS true it might be easier to wait and avoid the hassle. Of course you will likely still register in some way just not the whole current application mess. All the NIP and PESEl etc is supposed to stay the same from what they are saying.

You give him grief about spelling then you write "showinistic" But it was really cute and I smiled. I am not showinistic at all. I like nice women just fine. It is the nasty ones I have issue with :)

Hey I am not one of these people saying Polish are somehow 'cowards' (though I have been accused) or that Poland and Poland alone has all the bad qualities of humanity....I am only saying own up to the things that ARE wrong.

And my point about Africans in Poland was dismissed by Filios as "there arent many Africans here in the first place"..Obviously! But how does that change the point? In the future when there ARE enough immigrants here for people to start being annoyed you will know how others feel when they have a ton of Polish immigrants. I would bet a huge sum of money that Poland will not extend the same respect and courtesy to tons of immigrants on Polish soil as they desire abroad. I think when Poles have their own "economic or labor" immigrants in large numbers they will act just like any other place that does. In fact...I never saw a lot of respect and admiration for the asians at Stadion before it was shut down nor do I see Kebab shop owners being treated so wonderfully.

I just want honesty and reality rather than blind patriotism and arrogance...from ALL people.

The roles were reversed and the UK was the poorer and more newly free country and Poland was the wealthy Western place with tons of UK immigrants there the Poles would be saying the same things and complaining about all the Brits. Poland does not have that many immigrants and the ones they do have from poorer places get looked down upon just as they do anywhere. The moral superiority doesn't fly. I don't see the Africans here in Poland talking about how they are smarter and harder working than the locals and I am sure they came from much more difficult conditions than any of us.

So you got a new stamp with no trouble? I am curious if they will see it as 90 new days or notice it was just a couple days break in what you had left. Unless it is the first option I really don't understand how it helps you as it doesn't change the 45 day issue.

And don't get too cocky yet...they have plenty of opportunity to shaft you ;)

Life / Getting ripped off in Poland! Is it normal? or should it be tolerated? [97]

Ahhhhh....

Well I disagree but it didnt take long for the "well the US does this"...that argument holds no water because lets say for the sake or argument it is true (which I dont agree it is).....but if it were. Does the US doing something make it ok for another place to do it or do it worse or more? This is a common retort here.

When foreigners go to the USA they do not pay more for the same things than natives. Many other countries DO charge foreigners more. This is not an opinion it is a fact. This is wrong (now that is my opinion but I think most agree)
