Life / My Last Link To Poland Died - Why Leaving Poland Was My Best Decision [249]

But that sounds like....let me think...oh yeah 'political correctness' and 'hate speech'

No these are 2 different things.

example

If you are abusive towards gay man on the street just because he is gay it is offence and should not be accepted.

if you say- my religion/conviction do not accept homosexual relations- it is your personal opinion and no one will punish you for it.

@rozumiemnic

No-I did not say anything about killing. They should be chased away from someone's private property. Like rabid dogs. It is Bank Holidays so they invade someone land without any consequences...Is it ok for you ? .what would happen onTuesday? They will be moved out and all sh.....t left the owner would have to clean.

I wonder if something like this happens in any other country except UK???

People like exaggeration - I would not say that life in UK is so bad but if you find in one of these 'awkward' situation it is very frustrating. Just in Bullies seem to be winning in UK .

How would you feel if it was your company:

Just my first thought was about gun.But if you used it you would be investigated and prosecuted they would walk free and would claim from you compensation for stress and damages.

Life / What is Poland's view on obesity? How healthy, fit are Poles? [166]

I think I'm changing my mind about Polish people.

These changes with obesity are slow and it is hard to notice if you live in Poland. There are much more fat people in Poland now comparing to 10 years ago. I think food habits changed and people drive everywhere instead of walking or biking.

@Rich Mazur

No you don't have to like it but some of your arguments are just 'weak' - It is irrelevant if it is RODO/GDPR or whatever . You just walk in to the school and you want list of graduates from 1960.....just odd behaviour for me.

If I wanted to have a list of graduates from my year I would probably phone first and enquire not just walk in.

All this health insurance, graduates, polish food always cold....it is lots of rubbish.

I have not been living in Poland for a while and I would not say that everything is great there but You:

-did not like in Poland and you left
-completely cut yourself off your roots
- now you come back ( nostalgic trip??) and try to prove to yourself that you were right everything is wrong in Poland.

The problem is- It is your opinion...your life....and imposing it on other people who have different opinion to yours is a bit pathetic.

Contrary to you every time I visit Poland I would say that lots things improved.

@Rich Mazur

You don't like anything about Poland- end of story. It appears to me that you came to Poland with negative attitude that you would not like anything so there was no point coming really. For me you have clearly 'chip on your shoulder' for reasons known to you. Making points that you turned into American....that you would not make career by speaking with polish accent what for me is just bull....it.

I don't know if Poland allows GMO's to be used

I don't think they are .....I vaguely remember that most European countries were against them lately.

When you talk about gluten free, healthy lifestyle, gym, running.....I am afraid it is all about social class and money. I guess gluten free food is not so cheap either. So rich people are slim and healthy but poor just getting fat on cheap food.

There is also something more- I remember when I was in USA - lots food seemed to me to be very sweet...I remember yogurts -they were sweeter than in Europe. I guess people are just used to it and don't see difference.

Probably the reason we're slimmer than Americans.

We are still slimmer but for the last few times when I visited Poland I noticed that people are getting fatter. I don't think its breakfast in McDonald :-) but I think its less exercise ( everyone drives) more processed food.

@johnny reb

Just the men

?????- I don't think so. You still struggle to find many 'obese' women in Poland in USA there are thousands of them.

In defence of RM, I must tell you that I once met a Polish soldier in a UK hospital who after spending about 40 years in Britain could not talk to me in Polish

It is very unusual- There are polish clubs, communities in every bigger town in UK. I guess he cut himself off completely from polish roots. There is some true that your first language can get rusty if you don't use it.

Do you really believe it's only the Latinos and Hispanic

I did not say it I said 'some people do it on purpose' and I think that only cutting benefits to max 2-3 children could resolve it. Unfortunately Europe is much more generous with tax payers money than USA.

@Lindusapoland

I assume you mean 180 pounds so its about 90kg- it is quite much for 5ft 3 in. I am hardly convinced that you hardly eat and still keep this weight. Or....as I am aware there are weight problems with some thyroid ( or any others) conditions. I suggest doing some tests to check it.

Leaving Poland by finishing University you would be about 24- it is adult person with shaped personality. Even spending years and years in USA you would remember polish language, culture.....probably mix with Polonia in USA...maybe follow news in Poland.

The problem is people on this forum sense very quickly 'faked persona' it is not as easy task as you thought.

@TheOther

'sterilize people'

It sound harsh and drastic and never will happen but....for some people (irrelevant legal/illegal emigrants, locals) it is their choice of life. Have lots children and live on benefits.
