Feedback / The image of Poland according to PolishForums [90]

Does it create good or bad image of Poland and polish people?

I don't think there are enough Polish people on here to create an accurate portrayal tbh either way... Knowing Polish people in my workplace is a different experience being on this forum.

I seem to remember you banging on about the British abroad

Erm.. I think it must have been somebody else. At least I don't remember saying anything of the like. I'm frowning trying to remember a reason why I could have done before, but can't think of any because I've never witnessed any British people abroad before, but I guess I could have said something I just can't think of long ago or something..

As long as innocents aren't involved then I don't really care...

I read about police dog getting injured...poor thing...

Arctic Paul, you felt the need for hooligans to be in quote marks to show it wasn't your own view - surely you see that the acts of these football fans were mindless, idiotic acts of hooligans. Travel to watch a game on big screens..the screen you've shown up for breaks. I understand frustration and anger at that. Certainly the bottles thrown at the screens were [if still wrong] understandable.. but a riot, actual looting of [at least one] shop[s?] (behaving like pirates<.<), fighting and tearing up the place... these are acts of hooligans. I get that you were being humerous, but some comparison. Those who fight for their country together and those who spit the dummy all the way across the room and knock mummy's eye clear out for not getting to watch a game on television. It was plain stupidity.

Edit: - and stupidity with injurious results.

Scotland's Shame indeed!!

Horrified at the whole thing I may be, but I'm not ashamed of strangers. Football hooligans being said to bring shame on an entire country is a load of ..er..tosh.

On another note...
I think the the forum is in trouble if a troll carries it. I don't agree that 'it' does though.

Maybe we should have learned from an old thread which resurfaced lately that had a better example of how to treat trolls, they didn't feed it with serious replies and it disappeared quickly. This one, I think we're stuck with. Hope not. We're all too good to him.

I know you are right. Lol.

be there to stick up 4 her

In an instant, be he my friend or not. Anyone I speak to in there generally knows my view anyway because most have made some kind of comment or other at some point - I'd be there for anyone being treated unfairly.

It's plain cowardice!!

It is that. I'm glad I got your perspective on it [thanks :) ], I'll let it lie and hope nothing else comes up I think, since this is what she wants for now.

fractionally over the limit

Pfft - but it is typical. Lesser offences are picked above the large ones and the most common offenders get off scott-free.

Could be. Well at least, letting off steam in the saying it aloud part. I was most surprised by the fact [as I asked] she had never heard such an opinion in the job before because I hear it all too often. It proves to me what I thought - it is all behind peoples' backs. Yet..people should know there are consequences to how they choose to let off steam. I wonder if he would have said this to her if her boyfriend was in today.

Maybe. I guess it is best and right to keep her wishes not to say anything anyway..but I carry on with this guy all the time [we've had hose fights and strange stuff like that...]... I just can't imagine carrying on like I think he hasn't done anything wrong. I guess maybe I'll just keep an eye on him and see if he gets worse or annoys anyone else :( Grr.

Nothing, I think. I said that she should have reported it, or even responded but she said it is not worth the trouble. She was quite [rightfully] angry. I even asked if she wanted me to say to him about it and she said no. I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself because I'm so angry at him. Maybe more so because I really like him and to see his other side come out so nastily is a sting, maybe because this woman is ace or maybe just because it pis*es me off to begin with. Possibly all three.. I've seen this side hinted at before recently when he snapped at a Polish guy and treated him like an idiot, but this I did not expect.

Pity I had such a wide option to choose between for this post to be on-topic...

My 'friend' at work today said to a Polish woman [she told me later] in annoyance "There're too many foreigners in this country - you should all go home" or something like that [I wasn't there so...].

UK, Ireland / I have concerns over the British immigration policy so I wrote to my MP. [126]

sub forum for Brits disappointed with their countries immigration policy

I thought of that today too. Better still - an entirely separate forum to themselves in which they may may moan all day long in perfect accordance to their similar feelings on immigration - and this forum could return to what it should be - about Poland/Polish people.

[Thankfully the OP here at least seems more reasonable than most complaining. I would like a copy of that first letter if you don't mind.]

Welcome to PF Sophia

Welcome back, you mean? ;p

I was simply amused by my first mention in the omnibus, that I hadn't been around to see at first :)
