Life / Polish dentistry cost - 230 zl for one tooth cavity filling [99]

No address, but I can point..

Thanks. From the link, the address is Plac Szczepanski 3 within the Old Town

I have some business in the area so I can pop in.

UPDATE:

Ok, I'm sitting here grinning like a cheshire cat as I've just had my Root Canal surgery done in Krakow efficiently and cost-effectively.

First of all, props to Peterweg for supplying the contact details of Dent America above but they are now known as Astra Dent.

If you call like I did, you should catch someone that speaks English.

I popped in on Monday morning quite early and jibby-jabbered about my London Dentist identifying a tooth requiring root canal surgery which could be guaranteed to be ok if I was referred to a specialist endodontist cost circa 750 GBP.

Astra Dent's dentist (the very competent Dr Renata Gasiorowska) tut-tutted when I said I only had two days left in Krakow but within 10 minutes, I was X-rayed and she rolled up her sleeves metaphorically - "let's do this". I won't bore you with the details of the procedure which required a second visit on Tuesday but I sure got value for little money as the tooth is perfect now. I paid 670 zloty in all which translates to about 126 GBP in todays forex rate - a big saving from what I would have paid in London.

And to top it all, what better way to undergo dental surgery than to be looking out an open window to the beautiful fountains in Plac Szczepanski.

Highly recommended and once again I'm grateful to this forum.

We have used a dentist in Krakow and its been good value so far although its not an extensive history.

If you could be so kind to share the details of this dentist, I'll pop by as well as I head over early next week. Thanks.

It's nice of you to say so, but it's not true! I think I just have bad genes in the dental area and spend an awful lot of time at the dentist!

Thanks for taking the time Ziutek. Much appreciated!

I'll pop into a dentist whilst in Krakow to see if I can get it looked at at least.

Hi Ziutek, you seem knowledgeable about this. My dentist here in the UK recommended root canal work on one tooth on the basis of xrays. Is this a procedure I can have done in any of the recommended places over a day or two? I presume they will want their own x-rays and consultations. Finally any idea about cost?

Thanks once again.

UK, Ireland / Bank Pekao branch in London? [6]

No Harry, My tenant in Poland has to pay about 2% of the amount to physically deposit his rent in my bank account at the branch.

UK, Ireland / Bank Pekao branch in London? [6]

Thank you both very much. On reflection, it was a PKO Bank Polski. If they are that helpful, I might pop in to have a chat and see if it is better than my existing ING bank account.

Update: I visited the Bank PKO branch in London - 151 Shaftesbury Avenue. Unfortunately, that branch is closing down by the middle of the year and they cannot open the basic current account which was the only account they offered before.

The helpful receptionist recommended a UK freephone helpline which goes to Poland wih english speakers (0808 234 4520) but you would still need to open the account in Poland henceforth.

UK, Ireland / Bank Pekao branch in London? [6]

I live in London but have to maintain an account in Poland for certain ongoing activities.

I was around Trafalgar Square the other and I could have sworn I saw a branch of Bank Pekao SA. Has anyone used this branch? I ask because I currently have an ING Bank Slaski account in Poland which is becoming very expensive in terms of ongoing charges and fees to pay in. I would like to investigate a Bank Pekao alternative even better with a branch in London I can drop in to.

Thanks in advance.
