I actually feel very sorry for William. Losing his mother the way he did at the age of fourteen, now his wife and father have cancer.

It hit me too yesterday when I heard the news... :(((

At the same time, there are 70-year-old homeless drunks who smoke, inject, and live

Yeah, I was thinking something similar yesterday - bastards like Putin responsible for death of many people often live to old age and good people die just like that... 😞

Oh no, she's so young and all those kiddos... :((( 😢

I hope she's going to be OK... 😟

Life / Examples of popular Polish music? [953]

Beautiful lyrics from Sanah :):

Chorus:

"Kto nie skropił chleba łzami
Ten nie będzie apetytu miał
Każda kropla morzem dla mej łódki
hip hip hura!

Dobry Bóg obdarzył mnie skrzydłami
Więc lecę do światełka tak jak ćma
Orle łzy wyleczą moje smutki
hip hip hura!
hip hip hura!"

My translation:

"Who hasn't sprinkled bread with tears
Won't have an appetite
Every drop becomes a sea for my boat
Hip hip hooray!

Good God has gifted me with wings
And so I fly to the little light like a moth
Eagle's tears will heal my sorrows
Hip hip hooray!
Hip hip hooray!"

History / History of Polish-Russian relations [186]

Paulina you need to study more history, if you hope to continue debating.

Bobko, you need to study more Polish history, and not RuSSian version or your personal version of it, if you hope to continue debating Polish history :)

The Marquis de Lafayette, despite being an aristocrat and one of the richest men in France

That's all great, but the thing is that we're not discussing French history. We're discussing Polish history. Czartoryski being a Prince is just a fun fact that I provided for you. It's a detail, not my main argument :) Did you read the November Uprising's manifesto that I linked for you?

You may or may not like elites, but they exist, and they are necessary for the masses to be mobilized.

Czartoryski didn't mobilize anyone. He was made the head of the Provisional Government not entirely out of his will.

Love / What would be a traditional wedding ring for a man? [6]

@BlendedLife, another thing to consider - how will you choose the size of the wedding ring? Does your partner wear any rings? It would be a good idea for him to try it on first to check if it's comfortable to wear on daily basis, imho.

Life / Womans day in Poland? [242]

So? I don't trust them either.

Well, when my grandma ended up in hospital with a broken pelvis, it was you who gave a lecture about skeptical/critical family members of patients making life harder for doctors and you pointed out that you have doctors in your family... So I find it ironic that you don't trust doctors yourself :))

@Bratwurst Boy, that's why I always try to check opinions about doctors online before picking one, if it's possible.

Myself personally I hate doctors. I would rather be sick for weeks than subject myself to their "care".

But don't you have doctors in your family? lol 👀

For most guys I know - it's their significant other sending them around to doctors.

Most guys are terribly afraid of doctors for one reason or another.

Yes, you'd have to drag my father with a horse to a doctor and it was usually my mother and me trying to talk him into going. It was only when things got really bad - like he was in a lot of pain or ended up in hospital it got better and now you don't have to convince him - he's going on his own.

Most are just not uptodate with the newest scientific developments since they left med school!

I don't know about most, but I've definitely had experiences with some doctors who knew less than me or were simply wrong (about pretty basic stuff that a doctor with their specialisation should know) o_O

Love / What would be a traditional wedding ring for a man? [6]

But before I buy one, can anyone advise if there's a traditional style, or metal or anything else, that a Polish man's wedding ring would usually be expected to have?

I'd say that the most traditional wedding ring is classic, plain gold ring:

allegro.pl/oferta/zlota-obraczka-meska-585-14k-polskie-obraczki-r-11-12507532021

But it really depends on what your partner likes...

I think couples usually buy wedding rings together - after all you're supposed to wear it for the rest of your lives, so it's best if both of you like them... I personally wouldn't turn it into a surprise gift - in my opinion buying wedding rings together is romantic :) - but that's just my take on it :))

Do even those mothers who are responsible and provide care for their children treat them as equals?

Of course they don't.

Yes, according to this survey majority of mothers treat their sons better than their daughters (I experienced this first-hand from my own mother):

theguardian.com/society/2010/oct/06/most-mums-favour-sons-survey

That's wrong though and stems from those mothers being raised in a patriarchal society.

Such women only care for their children as a longterm investment for their own benefit

That depends on a particular individual. There are women and men who are like that, but there are many others (women and men) who aren't like that.

they know they will send their husbands to an early grave

A quote from a Polish article on WP abcZdrowie titled "Polish men live 8 years shorter than Polish women. National Health Fund is giving causes.":

"5. Men who are in a relationship are healthier

Scientists from Harvard Medical School have proven that men who are in relationships are healthier (especially if they're married), they are three times less likely to develop cardiovascular diseases and they live longer. The partner's role can't be underestimated also in Poland. The portal uPacjenta has conducted a poll which results show that:

- men in relationships are more convinced about the necessity of preventive examinations: 80% of them think they're necessary (only 60% of single men think the same),

- 25% of men declare that they're usually being reminded about examinations by their other half."

they will still need someone around to take over his responsibilities of providing for her.

In Poland women have retirement pensions (if they worked) or so called family pensions (if they were housewives and didn't work).

Let me know when Men's Day will be celebrated so I will trans back to a man.

Today :) At least in Poland :)) (the International Men's Day is on November 19)

Best wishes to all non-misogynist men on this forum! :)))

No, men provided women care, protection and provision for millennia.

While not giving them equal rights and opportunities for millennia and treating them like subhumans.

Oh, so you approve that this "man" conformed to your expectations.

Yes, this man "conformed" to my expectations of being a decent human being condemning rapists and murderers lol And why "man"?

Yeah, you don't respect him and you know it otherwise you would have said so.

You're either seriously sick in the head or you're a very dishonest manipulator. You claimed that "women don't appreciate anything men do for them" and that's why I wrote that I appreciate what Żartowniś Ponury did. You didn't write anything about respect and camels and so I didn't write anything about respect and camels either o_O

You think you are complex but you are not.

Well, it looks like that simple Polish comic strip was too complex for you :)))

It's cliche now that women don't appreciate anything men do for them.

Not true, I very much appreciate that comic strip by Żartowniś Ponury (who is a man, btw lol), or rather his sentiment that he expressed through it :)))

I asked you previously in another thread what feminists bring to a relationship and unsurprisingly you never responded. Cat got your tongue? :)

Sorry, I haven't seen that comment of yours :)
