News / Controlling the internet ACTA in Poland (Like SOPA) [34]

Have a look at the top of this page. Particularly the name of this forum.

Ditto :

And yet no big discussion about ACTA here:) Even and especially it is about Poland.

If you check some archive posts, my position about it has been clear from day one (ie. PF = freedom of speech). Some people argued how inappropriate it may be, but if nothing is done soon they will be the ones to cry to go back to the free Internet. Hopefully it won't be too late.

however it could be an end to downloading films and music

I wouldn't worry about films and music AT ALL (even though this actually helps some people to wake up because when they see a blank screen they start to think what's going on ;). You should worry about self-censorship (ie. you will not post truly what you think because you'd be afraid of being detained).

Feedback / Why are people who can't be bothered to register allowed to post or start new threads? [50]

There are too many valuable posts made by non-registered members (for some reason they don't want to register) that we still allow them to posts. Besides, there are classified sections and it doesn't make sense for posters to register just to post one classified ad and never appear here again.

Feedback / PolishForums Motto? :) [149]

I don't like it.

Many users don't like PF but they still enjoy it. So it's close to perfect ;)

Feedback / PolishForums Motto? :) [149]

Convex (PF moderator) has proposed to add the word 'The Polish' and that is unlikely to be beaten. So the official PolishForums motto is now:

PolishForums.com: The Good, The Bad, and The Polish

Feedback / PolishForums Motto? :) [149]

I've actually revised it a bit to reflect the untold story by adding '...,' so:

POLAND: The GOOD, The BAD, ...

If that was the case, the ending should be 'posted by full of..'? :)

Feedback / PolishForums Motto? :) [149]

Merged: "POLAND: The GOOD, The BAD, ..." - PolishForums Motto

The current motto of PolishForums is:

POLAND: The GOOD and The BAD

Do you think this motto presents PolishForums adequately? I do think it does, but let users give their opinions (it doesn't mean I'll change it but it may be interesting to read some posts). No more than 4-6 words please.

Feedback / A Personal Request to all PF members [119]

Yes, Poles are a minority here,

Your assumption is incorrect. The fact is, most visitors to PolishForums.com are located in Poland. It may be true that due to language barriers most posters are not Polish, but overall most readers are Polish. In time, those readers are becoming posters, too ;).

Feedback / An efficient (accurate?) way to search these forums (or how to google-search this website) [16]

By default, PolishForums searches using keywords appearing in topic titles ONLY. For example search for the word 'Poland':

DEFAULT(TOPIC TITLES): 1,558 results - Search - Poland

But you can change it and search for the search keywords appearing in ALL places (ie. both topic title AND messages) by selecting 'Messages' in the 'Where to Search' tab on the search page:

(ALL MESSAGES): 50,781 results - Search - poland

Google search works more like searching ALL MESSAGES (which may be too much/irrelevant for an average searcher). But it could work well for many users, too.

Either way, it's important that the topic title represents the meaning of the message by correct and meaningful keywords.

Feedback / PF logo - color turned black today - Nice touch, Admin [29]

Problem with logos - when logo has existed for several years changing it is not usually a wise decision; imagine Audi changes their brand sign to squares instead of circles ; ). Still, maybe there will be occasions logo could temporarily be changes (some holiday or event).

Feedback / How to connect with who are online here ? [11]

Thank you, But there is no way to know all the online contacts ?

Based on your posts here, I'm 99.9% sure you'd be asking whoever is online for free translations. That is not a Polish definition of a 'friend.'

Feedback / Why are threads deleted or send off topic list? [65]

Answer:

Because you don't care to think before posting. For example, you posted this thread in "Everyday Life" and that means you don't care about the answer (if you did, you'd have posted it in the FAQ and Help section).

This is not off topic as it is the latest thing happening and affection many peoples travelling plans. Who decides the deletion or movement of threads to another categories?

In your post you never mentioned anything about Poland being in any way affected (and Europe doesn't always = Poland).

Feedback / Ads in posts and wrong page quantity of most threads [30]

For a script it's very unlikely it works correctly one minute and doesn't work another minute, there is always some kind of pattern. I did some pagination changes in the morning so that's most likely related to that and your browsers keeping the old settings for some reason (refreshing should do the trick).

when you click on the last page number appearing next to the thread topic to read the newest post, in most cases it doesn't take you to the LAST page at all.

It happens when you are on the index page or from other pages?
