News / Poland in the European Union. Polexit? [559]

Trump will resign "voluntarily" for health reasons.

And try to pardon himself on the day he slinks out.

Then it will be open season in the media about him and his wife.

is there gas station on the way?

No, there are no gas stations in Poland - all the cars on the new roads are pulled by horses. You'll need to bring it with you. Food too, since they are a society of hunter gatherers.

jon I will compile a list of updates

Not much of an update since the prosecutor hasn't called off his official enquiry.

There's a great new book out about the idiot - an absolute lack of dignity, restraint and very probably he has a serious case of mental deterioration. But hey, he's got a bigger button and his works...

And meanwhile Europe thrives, with Poland a strong member of the Union - despite the current ruling party's efforts to bring shame on itself.

The market is going to close

Buy shares in coffin makers.

it's coming

We're still waiting...

Meanwhile, the only politician there actually being investigated by the special prosecutor is the deranged orange fool...

And Europe (like everyone else) still hates him.

guilty if no proven collusion happened ?

The prosecutor has plenty of work yet to do.

to have many collusions breaking the laws so that DOES make her guilty.

One person who doesn't have a special prosecutor.

Or the absolute absence of dignity and restraint we see in the orange lecher.

And interesting that the demented fool is being talked about in a thread about Europe. Reminds me of a joke I heard in Poland:
"Q. What's tound and hates Trump?
A. The World."

Not much logic in your post there JR...

convicted of treason as you implied.

More lies. As you know, I didn't say he's been convicted yet, I said he's guilty of treason. His downfall is yet to come - and it's started.

start listening to Sean Hannity, he will straighten you out with the facts.

Hahahahaha

More of a Vicky Pollard.

I know that the Dems have

We all know that the prosecutor is dealing with it, and it's barely got started.

I wonder if the combover fool could even find Europe, let alone Poland on a map. And if he did, I doubt he could fold the map up again.

Cash. It isn't very much (small change really), so make sure you have some low denomination notes and some coins.

On Google maps I have 3 different options all of tham about 5 hours, but with crazy difference in km.

If you go on a new road, be sure to make a small diversion to eat at a roadside bar (it will probably have the words Zajazd or karczma in the name). They're cheap and usually OK, the food can sometimes be greasy and bland but they generally have very good soup.

Russia

Trump's best friend, and possibly his downfall. He'll try to sacrifice some of his staffers (and possibly relatives) first, however his treason will go down in history.

Soros

Any rumours sound like hysteria - the philanthropist Dr Soros is 87 so he's more likely to be tucked in bed choosing good causes to bequeath to with a hot drink than appear on Dancing with the Stars.

Weird that the silly person above who was trying to defend the demented Trump mentioned him at all, but hey, who knows what swirls round in such a 'mind'.

News / North Koreans working in Poland and in Denmark [36]

Thinking about it, they aren't really day labourers - although the concept of day labour is a vicious failing of capitalism, thous man and women from DPRK are something far worse - they are outsourced slaves - something that shouldn't be happening anywhere.

News / North Koreans working in Poland and in Denmark [36]

North Korea has practically the lowest functional ability in English.

They are however able to provide English speakers for key roles like this. The British Council operate in Pyongyang (or did until very recently), as do other training institutions. There are degree courses ar DPRK universities offered in English.

And the waitresses at the state-operated North Korean restaurants in Dubai and elsewhere all speak English nicely.

a conversation between a simple North Korean day laborer and their Polish supervisor??

Why would a day labourer speak to the client? They speak to their Korean supervisor, who speaks to their Korean manager who deals with the client.

PiS is the party that stopped it,

You do realise that as of 3 days ago they're still there, despite the awful PiS regime. Evidently not...

Birds of a feather...

The North Koreans are clearly working entirely Black Market

They aren't 'black market' - North Koreans never are. They're hired out by the government there in a form of modern slavery. This has been heavily criticised and as I remember, state companies in Poland had to change the contract. Private companies are not under the same pressure, and of course capitalists will always choose the cheapest and most exploitative option.

No need to hire interpreters; plenty of Koreans speak English as a second language as do many Poles.

Poland and North Korea have always had good official relations, though there is little or no popular affection in Poland for the Kim regime.

Don't think so. I lived in Poznań and Gdańsk

Remember, Notty, that it's a relatively recent expression. Neologisms spread very rapidly indeed,

I suspect there are quite a few expressions you didn't hear during your many decades in both cities.

It's you millenials that are bored and don't know how to function in todays society to feed yourselves without Dad & Mom's help.

Yes. Don't even get me started on the topic of safe spaces. Or young people staring at smartphones all the time.

Zakopower

These are great - some excellent music and their last album is very interesting. I cant abide Golec uOrkiestr, but used to enjoy Brathanki.

As I remember, the Trebunia people (aren't they a family?) did a reggae fusion album a couple of decades ago with some Jamaican performers - it worked well.

Again, I must live in a different country as I don't remember seeing 'impaired' people at Pasterka.

Same here, though one or two people watching from outside occasionally seem a little unsteady. Better to attend than stay at home...

Quite. It seems some of the knee-jerk brigade don't know the literal meaning of the word "holiday"...

And they taste best at this time of the year

They do taste better! I can take or leave pierogi most of the time (and generally prefer z mięsem), however at wigilia they do taste great and mustt be meat free!

I even like kutia, though many Poles and Ukrainians I've spent the holiday season with say they don't like it. They still eat it though ;-)

Happy Christmas to all!

wonderful dishes

It's nice to keep the traditiions of wigilia wherever you are in the world and whatever you're doing. This year I'm spending the holidays on a beach in Senegal (no time to pop back home to Warsaw right now). I'll miss the barszcz and pierogi, but I'll be sure to save a fish scale in my wallet :-)
