News / Poles say a big YES to our European Union [996]

probably older voters rely more on TV (hence ~80% going to PiS/KO

PiS certainly isn't a party with broad support among younger voters.

You are having a pointless argument... with yourself.

Do try harder; this thread is about how popular (i.e.very) the EU is in Poland.

Some interesting points here about the documentary: forbes.com/sites/davidrvetter/2020/05/13/what-michael-moores-new-climate-documentary-gets-wrong-about-renewables/

So does the currently ruling regime

Not nearly as much support as the EU; and of course on internal party politics, voters are notoriously fickle.

Good you admit it's a regime though...

but not the United States of Europe...

Which doesn't exist.

Yes, the EU

Which does, and which Poland joined after a democratic vote, and which receives particularly high approval ratings from Poles now.

people will grow into it.

Most people see the benefits, hence the particularly high approval rating that the EU gets here in Poland.

There are few countries who want the USA to stay in Europe as much as German

There are warm relations between all EU states and the US. Germany especially benefits from the export market, and of course military spending.

Life / A Third of Poland has declared itself to be an official "LGBT - Free Zone". [20]

Because their brains are not emotionally developed yet

Yet they see horrendously violent TV shows and films, copies of the National Enquirer or worse, ride past 'pole dancing' establishments or casinos, see slave owners depicted on banknotes and hear about Trumpet's 'golden showers'.

But hey, if they see two ladies with short hair and sensible shoes holding hands, it's somehow 'stealing their innocence'.

Interesting...

Life / Do Poles watch Turkish soaps? [6]

Isaura The Slavegirl was shown late at night on Channel 4 in the UK when the station first started in the 80s; nobody really watched it there, except for novelty value, since there isn't any need for dubbed soaps when there's such a quantity of low quality output from Australia to keep small minds absorbed in pap. Sometimes the UK shows American ones on the minor channels, however most of theirs are usually too poor quality even for daytime cable TV channels with a handful of viewers.

As I recall, it was hugely popular in Russia a couple of decades ago. There was a scandal about the show because in the original nineteenth century novel (actually worth reading, as are Guimaraes other novel, The Seminarist and his poem The Origin of Menstruation), the character was black however the TV version unfortunately changed the character to a white woman.

Turkish ones seem a step too far in Poland and I'd doubt that any of those Egyptian ones would be popular. It's amazing that they show the grim South American ones; I wonder what the viewing figures are.

Oh dear, you couldn't keep up with the payments...now it's the home of the 223rd Chinese Fleet

That pattern has so far been repeated in quite a few places round the world.

you begrudge that the EU want Poland to take better care of that treasure in it's borders as it belongs to our all heritage!

Of course. Poland is not a remote island; its ecosystem affects all around it, just as Poland's ecosystem is affected by that of other member states plus Belarus/Ukraine. Hence robust measures taken for the common good.

News / Presidential elections 2020 - your opinions about campaign, candidates [2222]

Indeed.

That reminds me of a small 'political/cultural' party I was once at in the back room of a bar near the Sejm, organised by the appalling Renata Beger for Krystyna ProĊ„ko who she wanted to endorse her party. The Samoobrona people drank the bar dry, mostly lurid cocktails (I remember Malibu, Tequila and Pineapple juice being involved) and at the end of the evening settled the bill by counting out rather a lot of money all of it in coins.

they stick to a certain pre-defined script. It's all because of the orders from Nowogrodzka, which require regular foaming at the mouth

They're even advertising for them now.

PiS and the narcotics industry in Bogatynia instead?

One of many such reprehensible scandals out in the sticks. As their leader's late twin said (as well as the infamous "spieprzaj dziadu" to a voter), "now it's our f*cking turn"/"teraz k*rwa my".
