Massive bribes and lack of reliable verification of people who wanted to enter Poland and the Schengen area. This is what the visa scandal in India was supposed to look like. The Indians and their Polish representative told us about the story behind the scenes. - Poland entrusted the security of its borders and the whole of Europe to an external company, VFS, which collected documents from those willing to travel in its nine offices in India. Polish consulates did not see people who were granted visas - Onet sources say.
- To be able to apply for a Polish visa, you first had to get to a meeting at VFS. The meeting was arranged for a bribe, for a huge amount for Indians, equivalent to approximately EUR 800 - say Indians who entered Poland
- Those who received work visas to Poland may have lost legs or have other disabilities that exclude them from various professions. The Polish consulate did not verify this because it had never seen these people in person. The first and last meeting took place at the VFS headquarters, adds the Polish representative of the Indians.
When asked by Onet about bribes, VFS assured that it only collected official fees. And when asked if it was true that their employees from India were detained by the police, they gave us evasive answers.
The Polish prosecutor's office is investigating the visa scandal.
