I laughed most of the way thru that. It was just so boringly bad that I found it funny. Some really terrible acting as well.

Only good performance was Wanda and then she did the thing with the window. Hahahaha, hilarious!

It would be interesting to know the kind of film you rate highly.

"Krew z krwi", based on foreign format, a serial actually, where among other great Polish and not only, actors, Agata Kulesza acted.

Two films I cannot forget: "Plac Zbawiciela" and "Dom Zły".

Mmmm..... it has been my misfortune to see both these films. Ridiculously depressing. Life is hard enough as it is, and these "film makers" are sick in the head. No art. Lars Van Trier is from the same school, but that is good cinema ("Breaking the Waves", for example...) This is utter tosh, miserable, without any merit whatsoever. IMO.

Merged: Best Polish movies of 2015/2014???

Just curious about some good newer Polish movies as I haven't had a chance to keep up. Any good comedies or crime dramas? What's your favourite movie in the past 2 yrs?

Wtf why did my thread get merged with this one? I'm talking 2014 and 2015, now people are just gonna flood it with stuff I've already seen. There should be a sub section for movies/entertainment instead of all this foreign affairs and political garbage that's ruining these forums.

Maybe I'm not up-to-date with every Polish movie, but check everything with Marcin Dorocinski, respected and well-known Polish actor:

I recently watched the "Serce, Serduszko" and I liked it much.

Whats your favorite Polish movie or movies?

We talk about a lot of things on here especially who lied about what and why capitalism/socialism/fascism all suck but we rarely talk about Polish pop culture.

I have around 170 Polish movies and can tell you all except maybe a dozen are pretty awful. Nonetheless there's some gems like sex misja, mis, kroll, psy I and ii, etc.

What's your favorite polish movie or movies? Mine is probably chlopaki nie placza - a hilarious comedy about a polish gangster family and for action probably psy 2.

Dzień Świra isn't one of the greats, however it's great fun to watch.

I saw a new one recently, called PolandJa. Good, even excellent cinematography, though it came across like a group of short films by young directors rather than the star studded film that it was. At the premiere, even the cast looked a bit embarrassed and I overheard one of them saying that she was. Nevertheless, it's interesting and a bit of a reflection of a certain type of life in Warsaw. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a look. A lot was filmed around Powisle and under Most Poniatowskiego.

Polish cinematography is strange - the movies made under communism were witty and had good production value. Then in the 90s 00a it seems to have really gone downhill - with the exception of a few titles the plots were unexhilerating, the comedies were campy and not very funny and the production value of many titles of the time was worse than some of the great films of the 80s.

Recently I watched a polish action drama called I believe titled sluzba specjalna which was excellently produced, very interesting to follow, and was just a great movie overall. It was based on a true political scandal that occurred. I believe this movie was released in 201

I enjoy the real classics, "Zakazane piosenki", "Popiol i Diament", "Kanal", "Kolenie" as well as more modern films such as "Kret" about the post-Solidarity period in Poland.

Each of them great, yet in such different ways:-)

Danuta Szaflarki's still alive too. How about that! I wept during many of the last scenes of the film. A real tear jerker, with the Warszawianka in the background and our heroine fighting back tears as she sings along, realizing that somehow life must go on.

Missed "Ida". Caught "Zmroz oczy" years ago when it first came out. Nothing to write home about:-)

I enjoyed the new Polish-French co-production about Marie Curie. The people I was at the cinema with weren't so impressed. It would probably have worked better if it was padded out and turned into a miniseries, or shortened as a film, however it's worth watching.

Missed that one also!

Only so much one can see, isn't there:-)

Missed that one also!

I liked it, though it had a bit of a made for TV feel, which is probably not an accident.

It didn't go down so well in Poland, since a lot of people felt it wasn't Polish enough about her (it was actually quite Polish in theme) and also included scenes about her adulterous affair - something not talked about much here but a huge thing at the time in France. The film dealt with it very well.
