I will resist the temptation of typing in a nationality to the old quip: Q: What do you get when you cross a ......... with an ape? A: A retarded ape!

The fact that we Russians don't have alike anecdote about Poles is very telling. :) Feel free to further open your most intimate feelings towards us...

I wonder if you gave those ugly ape hybrids a couple of tanks, how long do you think it would take Poland to throw its hands up? You think they would take longer than just the pure Germans? Maybe 7 weeks instead of 5? How about just apes with tanks? 8 weeks? 9?

Would those be chimpanzers?

how long do you think it would take Poland to throw its hands up?

No, they'd resort to gorilla warfare.

I'm half Polish and half Russian myself

Is it your parents you're talking about? You just described WWIII lol

There's not a whole lot of love between those two nationalities you know, I guess your parents did it against all the odds. :)

So much confusion. Based on your answer, it seems against what everyone else is saying about Czechs, Ukrainians and Russians being closes ethnically/genetically speaking. How does Spanish/Greek even fit in?

I'm not fluent in the language of genetics or biology, but wow...really?

I am finally taking the test, this new test says for both male and female and can detect both maternal and paternal lines from ancestry

so I want to truely know.

Delph gave me food for thought because he said no one person is all Polish and of course thats true, we surely dont know how long

our ancestors were in poland , so to fight with him on that is really unecessary, he makes a valid point, one which should make those

interested in finding out their real DNA get the test and bring their results back * if willing to share* so we can see or compare, for all we

know some of you we are speaking to on Polish forums could be one of our ancestors from many many years ago.

That would be amazing to find out :)

I was told one time by a fella whom i tried to ask him questions about his dads family because their last name, he said well to be honest

we are all from the same family, havent you heard of Adam and Eve? I said YEAH, but I am not interested in adam and eve I want the

people in between :D lol

Pat save your money these tests cannot tell you anything significant about your family history, its not going to be CSI PF.

I can tell you now that you will have a number of markers that are common to people with your family history. They may throw in a percentage of some native North American just to spice the picture up.

What will happen is that you will be plagued by "genetic cousins" who have been given your details by the company.

lol good way to put it,

Barney, this test is new, they are still trying to ship them out, you have to have reservations, because the test is newer. maybe the older

tests werent so informative, I never jump on the first ship that comes along, because I know they are going to improve it and they did

plus it was less then the old tests. ( savings)

What will happen is that you will be plagued by "genetic cousins" who have been given your details by the company.

is that from ancestry? cause I know there are several sites offering it.
Barney 15 | 1,591

Some sites do offer that
A friend opened the door to have a large American straight from central casting offering his hand saying "Hi, I'm Chuck Turtle your 3rd cousin" (or some such).

I have about 50 first cousins with a shed load of kids, 90% live within a mile of two of me some live in America and England. Add in all the ones I dont know about, Da's uncles etc and I have 1000s of direct relatives. A test will tell me that I have DNA markers common to here not who I'm related to. The same markers are common all over Europe so they can only tell me that I'm probably from NW Europe not that I'm definitely from here

The point is that your family told you that you were Polish and you have some family history and stories, you would be better following a paper trail if one exists.

If you are interested in your Russian component, there are books of Balanovsky family, who are researchers of Russian gene pool:
"The Russian gene pool of the Russian Plain" and "The gene pool of the Russian North: The Slavs? The Finns? Paleo-Europeans? "

VERY brief and simplified contents:

1. ethnic Russians (83% of all Russians) are typical of a European nation, not Asian absolutely. Mongolian genes - less than 2% only.

2. Genes:

"male line" - there of the closest kin to Russian are Ukrainians, Belarusians and Poles, that is, Slavic and other Indo-Europeans.

"female line"- Finns, Balts, Scandinavians and Northern Germans because they have many of the common female ancestors - the northern and eastern Paleo-Europeans.

3.Anthropology

The Slavic Superstratum was not found at the Russians. Scientists were able to detect only the features of the Balts, Finns, Paleo-Europeans and other substrates. That is, the Russian have not Slavs physical anthropology, but the ancient European population, who lives here from the Mesolithic. While the ancestors of most Europeans came to Europe from South-East from the Steppes.

on the contrary Barney, I am glad i did it, because it gave me more information then I realized, seeing that there are studies and even

a thread on here about this, and you must have missed it.

They may throw in a percentage of some native North American just to spice the picture up.

nope, none of this.

Add in all the ones I dont know about

although I did run into a actualy 4th cousin, that ancestry didnt know I knew about, because its not online anywhere, my moms
family which I think what they found was possibly the maternal side of my family, which I didnt even get close with names on
any of them being focused on the paternal lines, its due time to switch it up a bit.

might be more of a challenge, but I want to see if I can track down at least one.

I might have to do my grandmothers side from my dad.

Lol. Kinda true though. Can't tell how many towns I've seen in Poland called Serbin, Sarbin, Serwy, Serbinow, and so on.
