I sow these days in media story about Polish `Robinson Crusoe`. Very interesting. Man was after 7 months saved from the waters around French island Reinion in Indian ocean (don`t ask me what French island doing in Indian ocean- this belong to another topic- ugly greedy topic).

Another source about it here:

A Polish sailor who says he spent seven months adrift in the Indian ocean with only his cat for company in a broken-down boat has been rescued by the French coast guard.

Zbigniew Reket, 54, said that he and his cat survived for months on half a packet of Chinese soup per day - as well as what he caught by fishing - before he was rescued near the island of Reunion on Christmas Day.

dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5215543/Sailor-rescued-seven-months-adrift-ocean.html

Very lucky to be found alive, he and his cat had been living on Chinese soup and whatever he caught by fishing.

Did he have an access to the internet during his voyage?

No photo of the cat in either of the links provided.

No means of communication according to the article. I'm sure he would have been found far sooner if he'd had internet access. Not sure he was particualrly well prepared for the trip tbh, or if anyone knew he was actually missing in the first place.

No photo of the cat

Another fail for the Daily Mail!

He apparently bought an old lifeboat in India in 2014 which he equipped with an engine, rudder and mast. Both the engine and mast broke on his journey. He set sail for Indonesia as he couldn't return to the US as his green card had expired. He ended up spending 2 years on the Comoros Islands. The Polish embassy in Kenya refused to repatriate him, so he decided to sail to South Africa instead. Still no pic of the cat :-(

Apparently, the cat seems to be the most interesting 'person' on that boat. I've never heard of a cat eating Chinese soup.

I've never heard of a cat eating any type of soup, but if it was hungry enough............
Both articles do point out though that his claims are impossible to verify, although it is obvious he had been lost at sea.

Cats can survive on a diet of fish and salty water quite well.

I do hope you haven't been giving your cat salty water to drink Iron ;-)

Given the extreme conditions, I'm sure the cat would have eaten anything....

No, but cats are able to drink salty water without harm to their health. Their kidneys can deal with all that excessive salt all right..

raw fish is not food most cats would be averse to.

Well I've learnt something new today, didn't know that! I'm presuming that the Polish guy must have found some way of collecting and storing rainwater, as there's no way that he had enough fresh water on board to last months on end.

Poles are indestructible. They usually survive.

No photo of the cat in either of the links provided.

I admit. I could probably eat my cat in this situation.

Apparently, the cat seems to be the most interesting 'person' on that boat.

Yes. Cat rising this story
