Both.

And pre-war Poland's most popular radio broadcaster.

Poles and Russians and Serbs in between!

That is crying in the wilderness. Forget it. Poles will never go with uncivilised barbarians.

Warsaw Uprising that delayed the Soviets' march to Berlin.

Exactly. In result, the Western Allies were able to capture half Germany. If the USSR had done it, the West would have had a huge problem with winning the Cold War. Poles contributed to a great cause.

Wait a second we have ssome post-communits that I would gladly send them were they belong to Moscow. They betrayed their masters from Kremlin and are licking German boots in Brussel.

I think they should be send to their country which is Russian Federation.

I decided I must inject some culture into this thread.

First song is a cover by a modern band of an old Revolution-era song about kicking the bourgeoisie's ass ( a little tongue in cheek). Nice views of the city from a river point of view

Second song is by a female Tatar singer. The joke of the song, and the music video - is how Putin becomes "reborn" just as his term limit begins to end.

Both videos are high quality productions. The one about Putin won prizes in Cannes and Berlin. Tell me again that we live in a North Korea-like state lol. Worth taking a look:

Another music video for people that think Russia is like China or North Korea.

Horror/Goth group ICESPEAK, song titled "Death No More". Beautiful cinematography again, even if the song is a little too out there for my taste. There's a scene where they are sitting on top of riot police shoulders on red square, then one of them eating raw meat on top of Lenin's Mausoleum, and then smoking weed in front of the parliament building while discussing arrests at protests - all while singing about what a depressing place Russia can be. Still not in jail, exiled, or #cancelled.

OMG, this will take me some time to work through. What I can say already, after listening to the first few, is that you - Cojest- most surprisingly are a hopeless romantic!

You can stop the process. There is already St. Bobko so you are late.

Another very entertaining music clip, with a good story. From same Tatar girl as did the Putin joke video above. In this case the song is called "Tatarin", and is about her Tatar boyfriend and his "traditional" views.

Even though he looks like an absolute thug, the main character in the video is actually played by a very artsy photographer.

The great soprano Galina Vishnevskaya was part ethnically Polish (Wiśniewska?) though not culturally or linguistically. Her life (as recounted in wysokie obcasy some years ago) was more dramatic than most of the operas she performed in...

interestingly the english wikipedia seems to have been.... edited... in a rather.... soviet.... style. No mention of being stripped of soviet citizenship....

Perhaps her greatest role was Ekaterina in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, but that's kind of harrowing... so something prettier....

@GefreiterKania

Here's a video you should watch. Unfortunately this is not Russian, but Kazakh. However, I am sure that 90% of the views under this video are Russian.

This is the right way to do a Polish history of Katyn. A Ukrainian way to do Holodomor.

Irina Kayratovna (brilliant name), shot a video for a song about weed that basically got all of Kazakhstan talking. The group consists of three Kazakhs and one Russian. In this video they show the evolution of Kazakh attitudes to the killing of the Kazakh intelligentsia by the Bolsheviks, and how it went from brutal shootings to grandkids watching it on iPads. Addresses covid, and corruption. You need to have some command of turkic languages to understand, but its not necessary you can just watch pictures.

How do Poles educated the young generation about Katyn?

This is the right way to do a Polish history of Katyn.

I'm not quite sure if a rap song about Katyń would be entirely appropriate... but who knows - generations change, sensibilities change.

A Ukrainian way to do Holodomor.

I would leave that for Ukrainians to decide.

How do Poles educated the young generation about Katyn?

Well, this one is relatively new...

youtu.be/417QavvOLa8

... and a history teacher that I know plays it to his highschool students (there are English subtitles).

Talking about Katyń, is this... what was the creature's name... Barisov(?) - is he supervising cattle breeding somewhere in Siberia already? That would help Polish-Russian friendship a lot (to come back to the original topic of this thread).

The final word on Russian culture!

Culturally Russia died long ago and a bunch of ghouls are feeding on the corpse....

I'm not quite sure if a rap song

Well yes, I'm not saying it's a good proxy, but unlike the video you shared it will be watched by many millions. The average person can't be expected to watch a 25 minute video about a subject removed 70 years. The short rap video, however, can awaken discussion amongst the multitudes that would rather carry on with their lives.

The resonance of the Kazakh video I shared above was twofold. Number one on the corruption side (where the bureaucrat gives his kid a lego of an uncompleted monorail). Two, on the Covid side (nobody in charge actually followed the rules). This - contrasted to the executed ancestors, started a discussion on how venal society had become, compared to just recently when people were willing to give their life for an idea of a better country. Finally, that no matter what happened (Russians in first part of video beating Kazakh detainee), you need to keep walking into the future together (the rest of the video where the Russian features). Kazakhstan went a completely different path than Ukraine in dealing with its past. Kazakhstan suffered proportionally more from the event the Ukrainians call the Holodomor.

So there should be not just hate and sadness, but also some call to action to be better in the present. To work hard harder towards a better future.

Oh, come on - let's not be such puritans. ;) A joke is a joke.

but also some call to action to be better in the present. To work hard harder towards a better future.

Definitely. I think this generally should be, and hopefully it is, the right approach to history. To learn from it, not repeat the past mistakes in the future and also appreciate what we have now, and what wouldn't be possible without the sacrifices of our heroes.

What about this Borisev dude? And is the Polish flag back in Katyń? Any news on that (I can't find anything on the internet)?

Apparently you don't recognize the importance of eros in culture - even in high culture - and the extent of artistic creativity that it can incite. :)

Cojest- most surprisingly are a hopeless romantic!

Not really, I'm not a cynical nihilist and amoral being like most Russians, and without a oppresive state they all turn into Dmitri Karamazov.

I just have a healthy appreciation of the Polish culture even those are mostly things of the past. Unless you think that values are something only a romantic would value? lol!

I have no doubts about a rotten human nature but I know that people can be really good as well.

with a good story.

Russian role model lol!
Good!

I quite liked the first video you posted.
The other two were typical negative nihilistic Russian crap.

Some Superb music videos!

There is hope for some of you Russians yet!

Sweet summer child.... it's about ridiculing those who stood up to state oppression (and suffered for it) from one who would never dream of standing up to state oppression.
