This discussion is so stupid.

no you are !

Lwow is now Ukrainian and it will stay that way.

welcome great prophet

rom current owners of the city is for them to spruce up the city and to try to expose polish traces and history of the city.

soon the city will crumble away - one problem less!

how?

Poland will take it back by force. Ukraine is not a stable country in the not to distance future it should possible to achieve the goal of returning Lwow to Poland.

you planning on marching in there and killing people, pulling them out of their homes? have you been to afghanistan? any military experience, or are you just full of sh*t?

or are you going to leave that to "Poland"?

pulling them out of their homes

No Ukrainians lived in Lwow when in was part of Poland I cant see any reason why they would have to leave if it was to become part of Poland again

So everything will stay as it is? Schools, courts, contracts? Russian and Ukrainian language signs, schools, government documents? Considering that they're not quite as well off as the rest of Poland, I suppose that the rest of Poland will financially support the new territories. That seems like a really good deal for them.

Well Poland could not expect anyone to support it.

Well, world-renowned encyclopedia states otherwise:
According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, Ukrainian is a lineal descendant of the colloquial language of Kievan Rus'.[28]

So is Belarusian and Russian as descendent of Church Slavonic language, colloquial language of Kievian Rus is just a guess !
Ukrainian language was formed under heavy Polish influence.
Secondly Kievan Rus before 1569 when become part of Polish Kingdom was but empty shell, migrants from Polish kingdom give it a second life !
There were two classes in Ukraine nobles and peasants, nobles mostly locals gradually has taken Polish culture , peasants were the same except for-religion !
Because there were more orthodox clergy in the area than Catholics priests, majority of people become orthodox and consequently Rusan - then in the XIX century Ukrainian !

All this on Kievian area - about territories we are discussing is just local people folly !
Religion made them isolating themselves from Poles with a little outside help.
I say fine feel yourself whomever but either be loyal citizen of Poland or clear out!

convex

I was having a hard time understanding the point of the thread.

Point is that Lwow should belong to Poland! What hard to understand ?Nothing less nothing more!Simple thing but some are really slow!

We'll I'm just going to say it: The Polish people did not exist before 1919, they magically appeared out of the hidden annals of history, since they could not possibly have existed since Poland did not exist... (!)

I'm sorry my sarcasm was missed. I shouldn't have even tried.

Ukrainian language was formed under heavy Polish influence.

Is this why all the Poles I met answer in Russian (?): "Ja nie panimaju" when I talk to them in Ukrainian ;)?

I'm sorry my sarcasm was missed. I shouldn't have even tried.

Majority of Poles have sky-rocketing IQ, that's why they can't comprehend such things as sarcasm or figurative speech.

Exactly ;)

Well... Cossacks writes some historical document on this painting... By the way, does anyone readed exact text of that document? ;)

By the way it is not so bad... ;)

Отвiт запорожцiв Магомету IV.

Translation sounds much much "flatter" than original... But here it is...

Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan!

Thou art a turkish imp, the damned devil's brother and friend, and a secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of knight art thou that cannot slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil shits, and your army eats. Thou a son of a b*tch wilt not ever make subjects of Christian sons; we have no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, f*ck thy mother.

Thou art the Babylonian scullion, Macedonian wheelwright, brewer of Jerusalem, goat-f*cker of Alexandria, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Egypt, Armenian pig, Podolian villain, catamite of Tartary, hangman of Kamyanets, and fool of all the world and underworld, a fool before our God, a grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig's snout, mare's arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow, screw thine own mother!

So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. Thou wilt not even be herding Christian pigs. Now we shall conclude, for we don't know the date and don't have a calendar; the moon's in the sky, the year in the book, the day's the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!

Koshovyi Otaman Ivan Sirko, with the whole Zaporozhian Host

Sure...

But, for complete understanding, here is a text of letter what was answered... ;)

As the Sultan; son of Muhammad; brother of the Sun and Moon; grandson and viceroy of God; ruler of the kingdoms of Macedonia, Babylon, Jerusalem, Upper and Lower Egypt; emperor of emperors; sovereign of sovereigns; extraordinary knight, never defeated; steadfast guardian of the tomb of Jesus Christ; trustee chosen by God himself; the hope and comfort of Muslims; confounder and great defender of Christians—I command you, the Zaporozhian Cossacks, to submit to me voluntarily and without any resistance, and to desist from troubling me with your attacks.

''In May this year, the German weekly Der Spiegel published the sensational details of a little-known offer by the Soviet leadership to return Kaliningrad, the former Königsberg, to Germany in 1990. Though barely reported in the UK, the Spiegel article was widely discussed in the Russian media last month, leading to outcries of indignation by Russian nationalists and a subsequent denial that the return of Kaliningrad had ever been on the cards by no lesser person than the last leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev.

The offer had been made in a secret telegram sent to the German embassy in Moscow,''

When i wrote the same some months ago,BB doubted it and asked for sources.
