Trying to trace the Solimko Family

I am attempting to trace my great grandmother's family who emigrated to Canada in the early 1900's. My g grandmother's name was Jessie Solimko and her marriage certificate states that she was born in Poland but no district in mentioned. Her mother and father's details are also included on the certificate. The father's name was John Solimko born in Warsaw? Russia and her mother was named as Mary Schwable. Despite researching my family for many years across the UK and in Canada, I'm not sure where to start with this sort of research in Poland and Russia. Please can anyone help?
