MY FATHER WAS BORN IN PIORKI POLAND - HE BELIEVED, HIS MOTHER ZOFIA AND FATHER STEFAN.
I AM HOPING TO FIND ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR FAMILY.
my grandad was Stefan Kozlowski born15/9/1895- died 13/5/1982, my grandma Zofia Kozlowski born 15/11/1905-died 5/4/1988
we have no records where they were born or married, my dad thinks he was born in Poirki, Lithuania.
Grandparents settled in Chomiaza Opole after the war.
they were taken to Siberia, my dad Jan Kozlowski escaped and ended up in Persia then after the war came to UK and married my mum Annie.
He had brother Mietek and Vinzek who survived the war and sister Ancha.
it is thought one or more of grandads brother emigrated to US. - the family lost touch.
We have little or no history records- any help would be appreciaed.
Both grandparents are buried in the cemetery in Glubcyze Opole

I have found this Lithuanian site with some church records but honestly speaking, I'm not sure where you should start. I don't even know if there was a church in Piorki. If not, it's hard to say what parish they belonged to or what is its Lithuanian name. Also you're not sure if that was their birthplace. So I'd suggest contacting the parish where they were buried and asking for their death certificate. If they died in the 80s it's still should be in the church - assuming they had a Christian funeral. The certificate may contain some information you're looking for. But that's just a suggestion ...
@karl koznoski
Hi! I was also browsing to find info on the last name Koznoski with this exact spelling! My great-great grandpa had this last name and he was born in 1869 in Bukovina, an extant region between modern Ukraine and Poland. The Canadian census records him and the Koznoski family as being 'Austrian' but really it's because the whole region was the Austrian Empire in the 1800s.
