Pogroszewski / Pogoreski - Finding missing Polish Man from my tree

I only have one polish man in my tree and he is the one that is missing and its driving me slightly crazy as I feel there is a whole family of people I am missing out on and a great heritage.

The hard part is I dont know his name which is what makes this search so much harder,

What I do know though is what my mother has told me.....
He would of been a soldier in WW2 and was based in Scotland for a while. He would of been stationed there in later 1940 (September / October 1940 at least)

He met my great grandmother there whilst she was a seamstress in the military launderette - had a brief relationship with her and she got pregnant.

My grandfather Ian was born in late July 1941 but he had already left then.
As far as I know - the man in question may not have even known she was pregnant , let alone that he had a child.

She went to the grave knowing his name and not telling anyone but he is the one blank space in my tree!

I took an Ancestry DNA test and have linked to 3 people as my 4th - 6th cousins and they all seem to have the name Pogroszewski / Pogoreski in common.

They also have information of a Pogroszewski and Drombrowski wedding.

I am hoping to try and look up if anyone with those names was stationed in East Scotland during those times but have no idea where to start searching. Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

I hope Im able to help fill in some gaps!
I will keep looking :-)

Thank you for any help or suggestions offered! x

You could try searching for your grandfather's birth certificate. It may show an address where his mother lived or was stationed.
