I think you are still too young to see, your face can change a lot in the next few years; right now, I can say that you could pass as any of these nationalities you've mentioned.

Who me?

It's me again, I have an interesting question about epicanthic folds, which are most common among people of North Asian, Central Asian, East Asian and Southeast Asian descent, but are also found in a minority of Europeans having no obvious Asian background, especially in eastern Europe and across northern Europe in areas such as Scandinavia and Poland. So, how common epicanthic folds are when it comes to Polish people? I certainly have them, just like everyone else in my family (my mother is Polish, my father Serbian but has them too). My nephew (my brother's son), who is half Estonian, has them and looks adorable with his light blond hair and baby blue eyes that seem almost Japanese :)

I googled it, but I can't quite understand what an "epicanthic fold" is. Is it just an East Asian eye shape?

First of all - everybody has some sort of a fold. It's that thing which covers the upper part of your eyelid. Most people have a small fold but their eyelid is still visible. What we call an "epicanthic fold" is the fold which covers the whole eyelid (it's a bit like having a second eyelid) which causes Asians to look like they had no separate eyelids at all

However, there is also a form of epicanthic fold which non-Asians have - usually it doesn't cover the whole eyelid but only a part of it. People often confuse a 'regular' European fold with the epicanthic fold but I assure you - once you've seen it you definitely notice the difference. A small hint - part of the eyelid (reaching the eyelashes)remains covered at all times, not just when you 'make a face'. It's also visible when the eyes are closed.

I'd say you have some Greek in you, or maybe some Roma.

Yes, you look 'dumb like turk', lol

''dump like Greek'' is the correct sentence.

Just because the guy has a tint of olive skin he's Turkish, Greek, or even Roma (whom are very dark)? I've seen tons of Poles with that skin tone, I am Greek and I have pale skin just as I have met many Turks with pal skin as well.

I am Greek and I have pale skin

You said you were "half Greek, and 25% French, and 25% Polish", no?

I'm 1/4 Polish, 1/4 Greek and 1/2 Serbian

Wow I can always see the beauty in mixing Polish blood with Mediterranean blood in women. :-)

No, it's nothing like that. The guy mentioned that many people think he has something mediterranean in him, and well, I've known a few half-greeks from England who do look a little like him. Roma aren't always very dark though. I have a Roma friend in Holland, and if I didn't know any better I'd call him Greek or Latino.

I am Greek and I have pale skin just as I have met many Turks with pal skin as well.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of a tan you know..

Well yea, but the other half of me is Polish which keeps my body pale no matter how long I stay in the sun. :-/

Exactly nothing wrong with being pale either, I'm porcelain with pinkish undertones (always burn) I'm like Nicole Kidman. I kind of wish I had fair skin that tans easily though. When I was younger I was obssesed with tanning and didn't understand why my parents wouldn't let me go to the tanning bed or lay outside. They finally had to say to me, "You are very white, your skin does not tan just accept it!" and "I hope you don't end up with melanoma." What they said was very annoying to me back then. I look back on this and laugh now, I really went through an ordeal because I wanted to be tan.

I'm like Nicole Kidman.

Well, she's a hottie..

I kind of wish I had fair skin that tans easily though.

Well, I happen have fair skin which tans easily, and I also look a little more tanned during the winters than most fellows do around here. (Maybe this has something to do with the bit of French in me?) Anyway, what I wanted to say.. My skin tans very easily, but I keep more summerspots every year. People with a lighter skin don't seem to have that problem, because they usually avoid sunbathing, or atleast they're more careful. I don't really sunbathe that much myself, I'm just not too worried about using sunblock during the Summers. So I guess fair skin which tans easily isn't everything either..

;)

Maybe the grass is always greener on the other side?

Maybe the grass is always greener on the other side?

Probably so. I just wish I didn't burn every time I go out in the sun and to make things worse I have an allergic reaction to sunscreen so its like torture to put it on. I have to choose between getting burned and getting a skin rash. I used to just let myself burn in the hopes that I would eventually get some good color.

You can get yourself a bit of a tan in the shadows aswell you know, that way, the chances you'll burn are minimal. No beaches for you young lady. Hey, and you can do so many other things outside during the Summer?

;)

Thank you, George :)

@Allison - I have the same problem too, even though people wouldn't say so, because I have dark hair, but my skin is white like sour cream, with pink undertones, so going to the beach is always like "burn, baby, burn" :D My grandmother had the same problem, although she was ash-blond, baby blue eyed Polish woman, and I'm, apparently, not ;) Somebody here said that Mediterranean people (e.g. Greeks or Turks) have olive or darker skin, my Greek ancestors were light-skinned with green or kinda grey eyes, with brown hair. I looked at some old photographs, even from the 19th century, no "Greek noses" or dark skinned people (although I wouldn't mind, I just find it interesting) ;) Anyway, because most of my genes are Slavic, I suppose I couldn't look much different than Slavic people usually look, except I'm very tall, but I can thank my ancestors from Hercegovina and Montenego for that ;)

Yes,Serbian girls are extremely tall.Lots over 185 cm there.Malariya you have obviously Slavic cheeks (high) but your mouth is Greek mainly the upper part because you don\'t have fat lips like Slavic girls. Also your nose is greek,Slavic nose is a bit smaller.your eyes are half Greek half Slavic and the eyebrows are Greek.Hair is Greek. So Slavic in you are mainly the cheeks, the colour of the eyes while the chin, the mouth, the forehead and the hair is Greek. You are like spiced up Greek beauty with probably Slavic body.

@king polkagamon - I actually have a small-ish nose, you can't see it well in this picture, it kinda looks bigger than it is, and the interesting part is that I have my mother's mouth, eyes and forehead and she is 1/2 Polish, 1/2 Serbian, but my grandmother (100% Polish) had the same chin and mouth as my mom and I do ... so there's nothing Greek about that :)

I'm half polish - half norwegian. I have the high polish cheekbones and my dads lips(I would say that they're big compared to my sisters and mothers lips). I have a mixed skin, and with that I mean: freckles and pale skin in the winter, and tanned in the summer. I usually get so tanned that my freckles "disappears" after a week in the sun!

Other than that: I have blue eyes and curly brown hair. No one in my near family has curly hair, I don't know who I have them from. My father has black hair and green eyes(as do the rest of my polish family), but me and my sister have blue eyes like our mother. I am told I have the same body as my polish aunt(whatever that means!).

I've been told that I don't look Norwegian, or that you can see that I'm not 100% norwegian. In other words: that I have features that doesn't look like/aren't alike norwegian features.

That reminded me of a quote from Notting Hill - "I knew a girl at school called Pandora. Never got to see her box, though", it's something that just stuck with me :D
