Last Name Jaszczur

My last name is Jaszczur, and i cant find another family with this last name. can i get some info on this last name and if there is anything special from it. ty

It could be another version of a different name. I have a friend whose last name was shortened to "Jaros" from "Jarosowycz" (not sure about spelling) But his dad can speak some Polish and he's always making fun of the kids in Polish and they don't know :)

is there a possibility that we are more than polish, bc i know right now we are 100% polish. i want to know if we had generations in the past in different countries. my family is around the Tarnow regian, south of poland, few hours from krakow.

There is always that possibility. Nobody kept track of those things way back when. :)

I've found a few families named Jaszczur, but not sure any are related. My father's family is currently living near Legnica, my grandmother relocated there from near Lwow in the 40's. I still have some relatives near the Ukraine border. Don't have any information going back further than that though.

i realize these posts are now quite old, but I just read the one posted by Jaszczur (the last one on the page) and it's really quite weird.

My dad's family (i'm a Jaszczur too) lives in Chojnow, near Legnica in Poland. He was born just outside of Lwow when it was still Poland and there is still family near the Ukraine. How crazy is that!

Jaszczurka is like small lizard, jaszczur = huge lizard. Actually jaszczur is more like saurian, dragon and similar.

Yes! actually the creature from Komodo in Polish is called waran z Komodo or smok z wyspy Komodo (smok= dragon)

They are dangerous beasts! Best steer clear :)
