Kostka: Decendant of Patron Saint?

My grandmother's surname was Kostka. My great grandfather, Barney Kostka, came to America by ship from Poland. I know the patron saint of Poland is Stanislaus Kostka. Does anyone know how I could trace back my ancestry such that I could find out whether or not I am a decendant of St. Stanislaus?

Dziekuje! f/k/a Ciszewski.

You could be a descendant of his or you could possibly be named for a town which bears his name. If your ancestors lived there they might have aquired the last name of the town at some point...

Polonius: Thank you for the info....I've already gotten a response back from polgenresearch and hopefully on the road to a better understanding of my ancestors and heritage.

dzięki! Pam

KOSTKA: possible soruces - hypocoristic (pet) form of Konstanty (Kostek, Kostko, Kostka); kostka (little bone or playing dice); or topo nick from Kostki, Kostków or similar.
