swears by Krasnystaw

I tried it and it isn`t tragic but still it is too thick which reminds me of Greek yoghurt which you should eat with a spoon instead of drinking.

No, no, only Bakoma plays in a prime league.

You say so coz you only know Bakoma kefir imported to Germany. :):):) Next time you are in Poland, try Ɓowicz.

buying BIO milk, then adding "Zakwaske do Kefiru" make it home made

I do it every few days - inoculating regular milk with regular kefir - it is enough to add a spoon per a bottle and wait two days.

No, it isn't and it is rare in Polish shops either. I prefere that one in plastic cup. It tastes extremely good. I always have to lick the lid.

lick the lid.

This means your kefir is too thick. :):):) So it isn`t true kefir.

Not realy, it is just a thin layer of "butter" on the lid. I love it, it's simply delicious.

I love it,

I don't. It always looks rather nasty, The same with those pots of yoghurt that have water in them.

Talking of which (and it's a relation of kefir), most of the yoghurt sold in Poland has not only sugar added, but a lot of sugar. Lots of chemicals too.

Some of the Polish shops that have appeared in the UK sell Polish brands because the British products are too healthy and chemical-free for the Polish market.

Most means 52%. :):)

That`s cistomers` preference. Poles like sweet things. Sugary yoghurt is always fruit flavoured

But plain yoghurt is also available everywhere.

Still, when health benefits are considered, kefir is better than yoghurt.

Quite. Jogobella is basically sugar with yoghurt added.

I'm no fan of kefir but do use it in chlodnik. I find ayran nice though, which is very similar (and actually makes nice chlodnik too).

That is why I never have yoghurt and rely solely on plain kefir. I have two glasses - 0.5 litre - each day.

I'm no fan of kefir

You should be. It is extremely good for you.

What's in kefir?
An interesting fact is that kefir contains a certain dose of alcohol, ranging between 0.08 - 2%. The fermentation process is responsible not only for the smell of kefir, but also for its composition - the more mature it is, the less lactose - milk sugar - it contains. People with intolerance to this substance can successfully consume kefir, because it contains negligible amounts of lactose . During fermentation, other transformations also take place in kefir - some milk proteins are broken down, which makes them easier to digest for lovers of this drink.

It is extremely good for you.

Kefir is an easily digestible drink that helps cleanse the body due to its ability to accelerate intestinal peristalsis . The friendly lactic bacteria contained in kefir support the colonization of the intestines by these bacteria, displacing the pathogenic flora . About 30 strains of these microorganisms were recorded in it, including strains of bacteria such as Lactobacillus brevis, Casei, Plantarum, Streptococcus cremoris and lactis, as well as yeasts of the genus Accharomyces .

The nutritional composition of this drink is also important - complete protein, vitamins and minerals, including, above all, easily assimilable calcium . Kefir, due to its high nutritional value and probiotic content , supports the immune system, which is why its regular consumption is recommended for viral diseases such as herpes, shingles, AIDS or diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome .

The B vitamins contained in it have a positive effect on the functioning of the nervous system, supporting the treatment of sleep disorder, depression or relieving the symptoms of hyperactivity disorder in children . The beneficial effect of this drink on reducing the level of bad cholesterol, lowering blood pressure, improving the work of the liver, kidneys and thyroid gland has also been noted .

All kefirs sold in Poland are of high quality.
However, there are two kinds of it and you have to make sure which you are going to buy.
First kind, my fave, is like a drink - when you shake the bottle, you can feel it contains a pourable liquid. It is think but not as thin as fresh milk. More like buttermilk

The other kind of kefir is thicker and creamy, almost like yoghurt. I don`t like this one coz kefir should be drunk, instead of being close to the condition when it can be eaten with a spoon.

The other kind of kefir is thicker and creamy,

If I happen to buy one, I shake it until it becomes liquid and then I drink it.

I shake it until

Possible but the kefir which was originally creamy has also a different taste. It is less fizzy/effervescent than the thinner one.

In summer in Poland I mix kifir with ice and mango pulp,

Interesting. We often buy mangoes. I must try it out. :):)
I won`t add ice, though, coz it dilutes the flavour. Isn`t it enough to put the drink in the fridge or freezer for a while???

Ice dilutes so I prefer the freezer for semi instant drinks.

mango pulp cans

Yuk! Come on. You can`t be serious now.
