terenia66 2 Nov 2007 #225zubrowka had coumarin, a toxin found in lots of plants, including bison grass. coumarin is also the basis for anticoagulant drugs like warfarin

Mufasa 19 | 357 28 Nov 2007 #231don't know about thatloooooove Żubrówka though \\_______________________//
Mufasa 19 | 357 28 Nov 2007 #233have a question about that. before we came to poland, I read in some travel guide that Żubrówka served with apple juice is called tatanka. Polish people don't seem to know that or use that though? Here I have come to know it also as szarlotka ;) or is tatanka something else?
miranda 28 Nov 2007 #234szarlotkaor is tatanka something else?yesI have never heard of it, but it doesn't mean anything:)
andy b 4 | 156 28 Nov 2007 #235in Krakow, it's quite common for zubrowka + apple juice to be known as 'tatanka', maybe they call it another name in other parts of the country. I think if you asked for 'szarlotka' in Krakow you would get some apple pie!my favourite 'mix' vodka drinks are Zoladkowa Gorzka + cola or Wisniowska + sprite.
Mufasa 19 | 357 28 Nov 2007 #236zubrowka + apple juice to be known as 'tatanka'thanx andy - at last got that one sorted.i usually joke about szarlotka that you eat and that you drink - all polish waitrons seem to understand ;)
miranda 28 Nov 2007 #237zubrowka + apple juice to be known as 'tatanka'just learned something new- thank you
Mufasa 19 | 357 28 Nov 2007 #239yeah yeah, i like it that way too, but i have sweet memories of Żubrówka and apple juice.
Oscypek - | 107 28 Nov 2007 #240I enjoy Żubrówka too (can't get the real thing in the US w/the true grass even though it has the same name). Anyone ever try Soplica?
