What makes an excellent forum?

I get called stupid on a regular basis,

Did you not notice the second word, who.re?

If you cannot see that my being called a stupid wh.re, for example, is abuse, then what else is there to say?

Could you show me this message / link? I hope you don't suggest that I or a mod should know the thoughts of the poster to prevent posting it. Abuse posts can and will always happen. IF we didn't remove them after they have been reported, you would have the right to complain about them, but that's not the case at all.

To prevent abuse 100%, all posts would have to be pre-moderated (and possibly all posters would have to be pre-screened for criminal record and such). It is impossible to do. What matters is that all potentially abusive posts are dealt with.

Same applies to trolling - there is a reason the removable Random chat has hundreds of posts every month and some posters get suspended for weeks. Again, such posts are dealt with.

Please define: "hate speech" in simple terms so that I or anybody could understand.

Google for GoDaddy and Daily Stormer, then compare their content to posts of some of our members here. Where are you hosted once again? ;)

you are the one with the expertise to make the definition

Free speech for neo-Nazis, says Mr. Dolnoslask. Got it...

bit like stalin and hitler

You seem to have a strange obsession with these two.

Could you show me this message / link?

It is now in Polanda and the offending comment has been edited out. The word edited has been written in red on the post in question.

IF we didn't remove them, you would have the right to have a problem with them, but that's not the case at all.

The vindicative skank comment is also in Polanda, that was not removed. In the dictionary, the term skank describes a woman of low and sleazy character who has sex with lots of men. I spoke to you about it and a warning was given, the post was ignored by mods. I rarely bother using the report button as you would know, but I don't need to come here and read this sort of sh1te, and I will continue to complain until someone actually notices or does something about what is being written.

What matters is that all potentially abusive posts are dealt with.

If they were, I would not be complaining. You already know this.

I rarely bother using the report button

That's understandable when you want to be portrayed as a victim. I've just searched Twitter for the term: "you are a sk#nk" - thousands of results (and thousands of other, much more abusive). You found one example (already moved from this site). We must be doing a great job. You need to get out of your comfort zone and visit other places to realize that the PF quality and standard is much better than on other sites after all. Obviously, finding one example may allow to feel you better about yourself, but look at the big picture before you complain.

You need to get out of your comfort zone

What about an apology and a promise to do better - instead of being confrontional? You do the site's image no favours and are out of date. IF you were to have a header that says "PF shares no responsibility for posters' views...etc etc...." then that would absolve you of any responsibility.

Because the site is domiciled in the US you think that US sensibilities apply. Probably most of your posters are in Europe though, as the average PolAm couldn't care less about his "mother" country.

Just an opinion.

Check the /rules-privacy-tos/ page - point 20. to find the answer to your rant. It says: "20. All messages posted on this site are the sole opinion and responsibility of the poster."

There's a fine line between free speech and hate speech.

Sure like between censorship and a free speech. You are all for censorship, labeling and preemptive bans. You're a true totalitarian.

meaningless bullsh*t.I have plenty more of that if anyone wants them.

No thanks. Too much of that already.

I simply don't understand how you can stand up for some far right posters here who constantly spread

Oh dear it's late and you are asking the most interesting and complicated question.

For a start Germany after WWI was left in a state of poverty and shadow of reparations,, their cries for dialogue and mediation fell on deaf ears, the result was the rise of the radical right and all that followed.

Again if you look at the more recent conflicts you will find the root cause is lack of dialogue or damn right lies from politicians with an agenda not to engage with talk to defuse conflict but satisfy their political / financial agendas.

Major conflicts such as the troubles in Ireland and the freedom of Poland were settled by people talking and reasoning with one another and not shutting down channels of communication.

So if you are asking me why I am prepared to put up with what I consider to be abhorrent radical and dangerous, I would say better to have dialogue, reasoning with my demons than have to resort to looking down at them at the end of the barrel of a gun.

Simply put once you shut someone up and put them in a dark corner where they cannot be heard you are on the path to disaster, hello hitler and stalin all over again.

I just remembered something while having a cigarette tonight that my father told me, he never smoked but had a packet of cigarettes and a zippo when he was fighting in Italy, not for something to do before he died but to give to captured enemy , he said it was his way to be in a position to be a human being rather than a killer, after all the normal German soldier was no different to him . those who had given up talking created this hell.

But it's not a rant. Your response shows your total lack of class.

It was. Don't talk about class OK?
Dougpol1 31 | 2,640

But it wasn't. Admin should apologise to Paulina and Chemikiem for not removing sexist and abusive comments, but instead he argues the toss.
No class.

I read the disgusting allusions re; Paulina in Random - so, no, Admin did NOT do their job. There is no excuse, and few people here backed her up. Shocking and shameful.

Admin should apologise to Paulina and Chemikiem...

How about flowers and a box of chocolates?

Both of them should apologize to me for taking the many minutes from me I will never get back.

Hey, ladies, when some a-hole calls you names, use your feminine nastiness you were so good at in high school and fire right back. Men are super sensitive about certain things and you know exactly what those are. So, drop that verbal "I am so hurt" virgin act and be what comes to you so naturally at home.

After all, women and men are the same, and can do everything men can except better. Or so I am told. Repeatedly.

Paulina and Chemikiem (Pam) are deffo two different people.
dolnoslask 5 | 2,920

Right gotcha, Chemikiem is pam. paulina = one user.

Anyway its wrong to be nasty to women but sometimes they can be nasty in a intelligent way, but us blokes can only come up with a blunt and unintelligent retort, well at least that's the way it works between me and the missus.

Summarizing, we need each other more than are willing to admit. Just like cops need thieves, robbers, and murderers. Can you imagine the world of nothing but love without conflicts? Even Romeo wouldn't like it.

That's understandable when you want to be portrayed as a victim.

No, I gave up using the report button when nothing was done, but obviously your answer to complaints of abuse is to blame those on the receiving end of it, rather than address the problem. All I ever said was that this place could be so much better without all the abuse, hate speech etc but instead of addressing the problem, you deflect by waffling on about facebook and twitter, and ask me what I mean by trolling and abuse, when it's perfectly bloody obvious what both of those things are, and that there are a myriad of examples on PF which can be cited to show this. Anyway, I'm done with this, it's pointless having this discussion or in fact posting here at all.

Someone called her a skank once but it was removed, so admins did their job.

No, it was not removed and is still there.

I have often found that in an argument (or a heated exchange of words) it is always better to remain calm and say absolutely nothing. You might be boiling inside but say nothing. The other person will go out of their mind as they want you to fuel the fire. This solves nothing. One thing they want is for you to see things their way (right or wrong) and the person who has the loudest voice or the better swear words is very often in the wrong. When they finish ranting, you just ask 'have you finished?' and go onto something totally different.
Admin 29 | 1,484 Administrator
29 Apr 2019 #84
rather than address the problem

Your solution is total message control and pre-crime thought check. It is impossible to do, even for Facebook or Twitter. When all reported messages are taken care of, it would still be too little / too late for you because you may happen to notice some other offending post added within the last 30 seconds that was not deleted yet. Of course, it would be our fault because we didn't pre-check the poster's thoughts.

The Internet is not meant to be used by all people; terri's advice above is a valid one.

and ask me what I mean by trolling and abuse,

In the adult world, it works like this: you complain, you submit evidence. He was "mean" to me is not evidence. At best, it's an opening argument. Now, we need the beef. So, either submit the evidence or define mean, troll or abuse.

As I posted before, to a forum, you are just a string of letters on the monitor, not a person. A simple logical and legal test: a person can be slandered and sue for slander. Chemikiem cannot be slandered and cannot sue claiming slander.

Got it or is it too complicated?

Avatars - The mere picture on somebody's profile makes it much easier to remember someone. Instead of "Oh ye it's that guy with a text (like everyone else)"

Here is a suggestion from a genius - that would be me.
Don't use those goofy xydsjs as your screen name. It dehumanizes you and makes it easier to treat you as some kind of robot on the way to a galaxy far away. How about this revolutionary idea: use your first name! If you are an FSB agent like me and you are afraid to have your cover blown wide open, make one up.

Let me give you an example how this works. If you real name is Alicja, use Barbara, or Basia. The point is that it's a lot harder to be mean to Basia than to xydsjs. Even for me.

I don't know where to start on this subject, but I will try my best.
I have issues with the owners and admins of PF, but I will defend them when they get it right.
I will defend them in their attempt to create a forum that supports free speech.
I will defend them when they say that sometimes that is very difficult.
Abuse of members is not nice, especially in the cases of Paulina and Chemikiem.
But ladies,(or girls, I don't know your ages), you either need to not post in some of those threads or grow thicker skins.

Freedom of speech is just too important.
And in the end, who looks like an idiot?
Not you, but your abuser.........just hit back with a sarcastic comment, shrug your shoulders and leave the debate.
Most posters on here have a genuine interest in Poland.
Poles seem to tend to suffer from hypochondriacy and paranoia.
Just because a poster on here sees things differently from you does not make him/her a troll, liar,Russian or anything else.
My only problem with the admins is when they ruin perfectly good threads by moving posts.
I know that they think that they are doing this in the best interests of the forum, but they are often wrong.
I stand by what I said.
This is a good forum, that's why we all keep coming back.
But it could be so much better..........

But RM being a genuine Russian troll is a notable exception to this theory ...
