Like / Dislike - new feature on PF

We've just introduced a new feature: Like / Dislike (Upvote / Downvote). You can now like/dislike each post -- look at the bottom/right corner of the post.

Likes/dislikes are anonymous. Both registered and anonymous users may vote (with proper verification features to prevent abuse and double voting).

Registered posters may easily "track" their posts and associated Likes by clicking on the "Posted In / View My Posts" link in the header menu, or they can see votes directly on discussion pages.

Posters cannot vote on their own posts.

To "cancel" your vote, just click twice on the same button (or click on the opposite button).

A new "Votes" link is added in the top-right corner (for logged-in forum members) - it notifies when your posts get new votes.

From what I've noticed posts on PF until this point were usually getting max 3 votes or downvotes, but ✨magically✨ my post about Ukrainians saving Poles, which you agreed with, somehow got 26 upvotes (majority by Guests) and your post that followed mine got 24 upvotes and you downvoted my post suggesting that you're using VPN 11 times (1 vote by a member - you - and 10 votes by Guests) and you upvoted your comment that followed mine 16 times, so, yeah, I call "bullsh1t" on this 🙄

@Admin, I'm afraid you'll have to ban Guest voting if, for some reason, you want any credibility to this voting feature, due to toddlers like Torq lol *sigh*

I don't care about this new feature, to be honest - I think it's pretty useless, because PF is a small forum with very few active users and we all know our views and likes and dislikes anyway... You kind of made a mockery of it though, so I wonder what's the point of it now. But that's Admin's problem, not mine, fortunately lol 💁

I may be paranoid, and I have no concrete proof - but I've noticed more than once that certain pro-Russian bots and posters on Twitter sometimes seem to be ripping off my PF posts 1-for-1.

I'm not saying I write exclusively unique takes here, and indeed there's tens of millions of people out there that share my views... but what's the probability that within a certain period of time - someone, somewhere else in the world, would decide to write nearly the same thing on the same exact topic?

... and they get thousands and thousands of views, and likes, and reposts.

Meanwhile I get 2 upvotes here.

I bet they think they're very clever: "No one would ever suspect that I'm stealing content from an obscure Polish forum... muahahaha!"

Sometimes I feel dumb for posting on PF instead of the place that has a billion plus users.

Well, I wouldn't pay much attention to those "votes" here on PF - first of all I don't think many people are voting on posts here anyway and, secondly, those votes can be easily manipulated - as Torq's example shows - he was downvoting random posts of mine to such an extent that he brought down my vote percentage from over 70% to over 30% and upvoted his own percentage on both of his accounts (how is he allowed to have two accounts anyway?) with his GefreiterKania account reaching 100% now lol So with VPN, or with having two accounts, you can downvote others out of spite and upvote your own posts as much as you wish. On social media they have AI bots for such stuff, I guess 🤔

I do comment sometimes on social media, but for me personally SM are often confusing and frustrating in terms of responses to my comments - I don't always see them, I don't always get notifications (or I miss them if there's a lot) and when there's a lot of likes it can get overwhelming - the biggest number of likes that I got on a comment was over 3000 😳 and I just stopped paying attention to this stuff at that point. So I've got to say that I find this forum more convenient for having proper, more meaningful discussions. 🤔 It's just a pity that there aren't that many normal people here that you can have proper, serious discussions with, I guess...
