How about Helped Somebody feature ?

Some forums possess certain quality which might be useful: the help counter for each member. Every time a member helps a newbie or another member, his/her account grows. The most helpful members might be rewarded by mods with some extra stuff.

As I am not sure if you get me, I can post a link to a forum which uses this feature:
anglista.edu.pl/topics106/domowa-kuchnia-na-maturze-ustnej-vt3269.htm
Check the guy`s profile: he helped 40 times.

How about an automated "Re-direct to Google" feature when some really dumb questions are asked. I think 90% of questions could easily be answered by doing a simple Google search.

Who could click on 'He helped me' button? Only a topic starter, I guess (if all then soon the number could be meaningless, ie. too big..).

Mostly, yes.

But there are many topic startes who fly to the forum to get a piece of information. A few dozen each month, I suppose.

(if all then soon the number could be meaningless, ie. too big..).

I didn`t think about it.

Yes, people could start creating groups of mutual support - I click your button and you click mine. :):):):):):):):):):) Is that what you mean? :):):):)

But it works in other forums......

Technical help forum:

Podziękowania na tym forum realizowane są zwykle przez wciśnięcie przycisku "Pomógł" przy poście pomocnej osoby.

I can see that help-requested posts wait longer and longer for an answer. I can`t help everyone coz I am not a universal expert on all subjects. If there was a help button, other old members who prefer to ignore such requests now out of sheer laziness would be more willing to reply.

Only a topic starter, I guess

Yes, that`s the best option.

Besides, it would introduce certain novelty and diversity in the forum. The last significant change that I remember is highlighting one`s own posts green. When did it take place? 3, 4 years ago? Time for another change.

I can see that help-requested posts

Those posts should be monitored by the mods.
Some of them are posted by some lazy teen who don't even know how to formulate a question or what exactly they look after.

2. Posts that require some knowledge,
Those can stay I guess but they are posted mostly by people with no means or a will to hire and pay for professionals.
3. All kinds of Indians feeling lucky and posting here and there hopping someone will help them with their petty problems about work visas and so on..

4.random stuff sometimes trilling sometimes bizarre.
I guess mods are not being paid here so we won't be seeing a proper selection and venting of those kind or threads.

Yes, some of them. 20%? Does it mean the new option is useless?

posted mostly by people with no means or a will to hire and pay for professionals.

Yes. What impact does it still have on introducing the new option?????

All kinds of Indians feeling lucky

Don`t be so discriminatory and racist! Indians are people, not monkeys, they deserve help, too.

I guess mods are not being paid here

No, they aren`t but monitoring the new option won`t be cumbersome.
