how does Twitter help to increase traffic in Polishforums?

I still don't get Twitter. I find it totally overwhelming.. so I'm down to just few of the funniest people I'm following. I don't think I could not take added traffic of Polishforums.

SEO - social networking, similar to PF's Facebook page

I still don't get Twitter.

Twitters is basically for people who follow other people. I dont really give a crap what other famous people are doing.

but if I ever need a chuckle during a boring meeting, this is the place to go.
Here is one you can appreciate, I think:
I'm constantly amazed at how different my twin daughters are. Lisa is so much more positive & confident than her sister Hog Face.

I noticed sth interesting - at 2 am Polish time, the attendance of registered users drops to 4-5 on average. (guests - about 50).

It means most of registered ones are residing in Poland.

When Poland is snoozing, I tend to see an average 6 or 7 registered users. Usually same users too. Gotta love the advantages of being a Gold Member & seeing who is online!

Merged: Is the "number of users on live forums" set at 293 a fake number?

I suspect so. The more "popular" the contents of the threads, the greater number of users shown on the bar at the bottom of the page. There may be two reasons for that. Either

1. the forum attracts more people who prefer such contents over a more "heavy" one as it used to be in the past, or

2. the number is artificially "pumped up" to show greater readership of the forum.

The number displayed on my screen at this moment is 293 (12:05). Some two to three weeks ago and backw it was always fixed around the number of 100. I find it impossible to have increased at such a pace over such a short period, so I suspect some kind of manipulation with the number is done. What do you think of it?

At 12:34, I opened th PF on another card and saw the number slided to 96 only !!! It is very ineresting, isn't it? Never before could I observe such rapid changes in that number within half an hour, though it is possible, of course. But it was also possible to add 200 to the counter, so the true number at 12:05 would have been 93 rather than 293. I hope that it is a conspiracy theory rather that the truth, but I must say that in the past I could observe actions on the forum regarding my posts which could easily be qualified as dishonest on the part of the administration of the forum.

Your post is a proof why layman should not discuss things they don't understand... :). The number may include search engine bots that visit the site for 5-300 seconds to index the content. Most of these robots are ignored in the count, but since their IPs change it's not possible to keep up. Still, the same number appears on every page (if you change the page it may increase or decrease in the meantime).

I opened th PF on another card and saw the number slided to 96 only !!! It is very ineresting, isn't it?

No, it's simple logic 101. The number is in real time so within several seconds it can change (especially if search bots are currently indexing the site).

in the past I could observe actions on the forum regarding my posts which could easily be qualified as dishonest

If you don't understand something or don't read the forum rules, you will always try to shift the blame from yourself to others. As they say: "If all else fails, read the manual."

But you gave a good idea which has been contemplated by moderators to remove the number completely. Maybe we will.

108 - people, don't go away. It's a great page. Let's make some records together.

Today we broke a different record, 5- day- old posts on the home page.
I remember in the past the last post on the home page used to be a few hours old.
Facebook destroys forums.
Does anybody care? Members? Staff?

@pawian; Facebook destroys forums.
I don't think so. It is only some sort of "digital tiredness" of many people.

I think the issue is forum hygiene. If you want people like Strelecz to run free, you need to be able to say goodbye to the people that made the forum popular.

Facebook destroys forums.

Which shows how stupid most people are since facebook is a muddled mess. I've joined a couple of groups and get randomized postings and it's almost impossible to search for anything... just crap on a stick compared to old fashioned forums...

The internet has totally collapse from it's former glory.... (peaking around 2007 give or take a couple of years...

Add to him Johnny Reb, and Cargo Pants and this forum would be sorted.
I think we can live with Crow and Ziemowit for now.

This forum, if it ever gets destroyed, will be destroyed by envy - a typical European, if not entirely Polish character defect.
Here, in the US, we don't envy. We try to do better and get to own better things through our efforts and frugality. Nobody ever said to a guy on Club Lexus how come you bought the 2014 instead of the 2021 model. Here, we cannot say one damn thing, even if it's immutable, without getting some nasty and idiotic comment.

So what is left is general BS and shooting arrows at each other.

You are right Rich.
Americans don't envy. They think, how can I get that or do that?
Europeans always knock successful people instead of trying to emulate them.
This is a bad European trait that has held Europe back and given the advantage to America for decades.

Facebook is ongoing proof that that's not true....

Facebook is a dead social media platform among the under 20 crowd. It is largely for older people now. Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter are crushing Facebook. Only in Poland is Facebook still the prominent Social Media platform.

@Novichok
I could write a book about Polish envy over the last three years. It is part of what holds Poland back from a lot more success. Thankfully, it is a trait that the younger generations are not embracing as much any more.

Not just Poland, but Europe in general.
In this respect, we could learn a lot from the Americans.
