Went to Canada about a month back for my cousins wedding. I forgot the good old times we had every weekend when they all used to live in Chicago and visit us up here in Wisconsin. We always had a prazona (something like that) and campfires and cookouts and just doing the things Polish people do. Those days are gone for the most part now, as they all moved up to the great white north. Anybody else miss growing up with Polish relatives? It always gave me a break from the American lifestyle, not that I don't like it, it's just a different lifestyle. Anyone else agree?
Ah yes, gone are the days as we remember them. The Polish Picnics, Maly Wladziu, the Polka and Obereks.. The old Polish songs sang in Polish.. Szlwa Drzewiecka,, Wojenko Wojenko.
Mularze Mularze, Hej tam pod Krakowiem, Zosia. Zegnal goral swa Goralkem ,Czyja ta Drzewczyna, Glemboka Studzienko.ETC.
Wigilia, Dyngus, Blessing the easter basket. Ahhh! Yes, it's enough to bring tears to ones eyes..
Our world has changed. Our kids no longer speak Polish, all of the old customs are a bit strange to them.
They can say what they want about our Immigrant parents.. But they knew how to live. And they taught us that work will never hurt you.
so, either visit Chicago, Philly, NUC, Hartford or Poland itself.
