Hello All. I am Canadian and recently married a Polish citizen. We live overseas in Asia and are thinking about moving to Europe. We first want to visit Poland for a few months and get me a resdency permit so I can stay in Europe longer than 6 months. Does anyone have any helpful info. regarding this kind of situation? The Embassy over here takes forever to respond to my questions and then they never really help! For example, after I arrive in Poland, how long wil I have to stay there before I can travel to another country on holiday even if Poland is our home base? Any info. or previous experiences would be of help.

Thanks in advance!

Hi
First of all as a Canadian you should have no problem going anywhere in Europe.
But if you panning for a long stay in europe. then you need to apply for reidency in poland, My wife is polish and we planning in going to europe tooand I asked about that in the polish consulate in NY and they told me that I should apply for the residency no later than 45 days from arrival and even for your visa to poland (or in your case as a canadian you dont need VISA) let you stay for nomore than 90 days applying for the residency in poland will intitle you to stay as long as youwaiting foranswer from the immigration office.

Good luck to us in Europe

hi, you will first be given a Temp. Residency card, which if like mine, you will have for 3 years before you can get perm. one. It still allows work and all things that a standard resident would get.
