If you work on your English a little more then you will have realized that your post doesn't have anything to do with what you quoted from mine.

Whenever I was in Poland, they always have a strange set of questions to try and gauge your income or more to the point your disposable income. Do you have a flat? How much do your earn? How much is the rent for your flat? Do you have a car? What size engine has it? And the last and most stupid question of all always asked by a Pole in Poland. How many liters of petrol does your car burn over a one hundred kilometer distance?

I'm a Brit and I find it's ok to talk about money matters with good friends or trusted work colleagues when you're chatting 1-1.

No one wants their nose rubbed in it if they're struggling though.

Very good posting by Mister H. Sometimes u have to talk about money, divisive tho it can be. Just don't get into the meritocratic aspect of it. Some people earn stacks of cash and are fit for a hoof in the ass. I despise such people and it ain't jealousy as I do quite OK here. Happy with my lot!! Like anything, as long as the point isn't laboured unduly

So how much are Polish doctors paid by the state compared to what lawyers , accountants, actuaries, journalists etc earn ?

so substantiate then if you're so in the know, how much does the Polish state pay their doctors ?

well, im sitting with a friend who is a doctor drinking coffee... he says he make 3600 plus his private work for which he charges 100 zl per session - usually lasting ten mins or so... he also does additional work at a local hospital but wont tell me what he makes for that

he says that a very recently qualified doctor still doing his training obviously eanrs less, but points out that the minimum wage has gone up this year to something around 860 per month... a little more than 150 pounds and about what a junior teacher might earn... he says even the most junior of doctors would earn more than this

its worth noting that 150 GBP is about 720 zls - not much - and that the article was written in 2004...

Much more than than, my friend's girlfriend's parents are doctors and they don't earn 150 pounds a month. A week more like. 750zł a week, 3000zł a month is more like it. Some private doctors make upwards of 5,000, even 10,000zł a month

How many journalist do you know payed by the state?

The point is the salaries for those working in the private sector. Yes, now you can compare a doctor in medicine with a journalist. And it isn't 150 GBP.

my company's looking for welders/fabricators polish or english there paying starting money of 8.20 phr,40 hrs per week with 15 hrs over time, paid at time and a half this goes up after three months,

this is the same for the polish as it is for the english.

It may all depends if they have a private clinic or not. State wages are very low but the Polish health professionals supplement their incomes by bribes.

There is some truth in that Michał, the Poles know this well. Most are not too sensitive on this matter I've found out. U r right also to mention the public/private divide. There are huge disparities here. Still, public doctors (fully qualified) get more than 150 pounds a week. Good post Michał

I used to know a doctor in Częstochowa who had a private clinic. He was a gynecologist. He earned a lot of money and even sent his daughter to the United States of America where she trained to become a dentist. He went off the rails and became an alcoholic after his other daughter died. As I say, he earned a fortune but I do know of situations in the State sector where members of a person's family have to take in to the hospital medicines, clothing and everything as the hospital has nothing at all.

none, read my fist post on the thread as that was what I was referring to. I was comparing the salaries of these professions in Poland compared to the UK. In the UK doctors are one of the highest paid professions but here they are one of the lowest with a net monthly wage of about 3500zl , they can suplement that with private work of course.

and they usually do. i am tired of doctors in poland saying how little they earn etc. :/
