English people attitude towards Poles?

So how do you explain the fact that most Poles in Britain do the jobs that most English people for obvious reasons don't want to do??......i.e waiters, nanny's, labourers and road sweepers etc!! Hardly a career job!!.....Would you call these people successful and intelligent??

I am polish student working and studying in Berlin English and Italian. In British Studies Institute they teach us : " Britain profits from its multicultural and multiligual society The tremendous mixing of people over the decades has enriched the lives of everyone in Britain. It was the Brits that brought other nations from ohter cultures to Britain and now thanks to them the country evolves its economy"

I see that you think UKs economy would be so developed also without workers like road sweepers, without colonialism. Why do you think your economy is growing? Because there is such movement of people in every area of the economy!!!!!!!!!! Growing economy attracts other peple and developes. In Poland at the moment we have oposite situation.

Also British culutre is flourishing and if you would like to understand better people like Polish you should see films like: "Ghost" by Nick Broomfield (it as a truth story)

britspotting.de/website_2007/site_english/programm/film/popup/feature/ ghosts.htm
ghosts.uk.com/

and to comparision about British youths "Kidulthood" by Menhaj Huda(director is descendant of an emigrant)
britspotting.de/website_2007/site_english/programm/film/popup/feature/ kidulthood.htm

Sorry for my English guys. I'm still learning.

[quote=sparrow] If you'd get more British youths & 45+ people working you wouldn't need to invite Poles to the UK. Because that's exactly what happened, they didn't came there themselves all of a sudden, they allowed them to come because they needed them badly.

I or any other decent Brit don't recall ever inviting two million Poles to invade our island. The only reason your here is because our pathetic Labour government hates everything British. They think this island needs a little more foreign enrichment to please the multiculturalists. As for our economy, we've managed fine for hundreds of years prior to any immigration.

If you want less foreign workers in your country, have more Brits work. Simple. Slight problem though, the British chav youths would rather stay at home smoking pot & playing PS2 on their 20th birthday than to wake up every day at 7am. That's why you have Poles, Africans & Chinese. They work their asses off while sending half the cash to their family so lil' Jonnie can relax & watch the footie.

Kontempora,

Yes ofcoarse the Economy will grow if you have an extra 1.5 million (1/2 million east European) immigrants arriving over the last four years.....That is just a statement of fact. There are some immigrants who speak English very well and have good qualifications and are able to succeed in Britain, but most... around 80% don't have a good command of English and are only able to do low paid work which doesn't really contribute very much to the Economy as a whole.

" Britain profits from its multicultural and multiligual society The tremendous mixing of people over the decades has enriched the lives of everyone in Britain.

Well.... all of the above is just a matter of personal opinion isn't it? Having your own culture ''enriched'' as you put it!!... from another European culture i'e Poland etc... is not the issue here, because most of the immigrants into Britain have come from Asia... The problem with that is much more obvious!....I'll leave it there folks before I get a...''Court Marshial'' and Shot at dawn......for ''Being a Rascist''!!....No i'm not....Just the age we live in.

Not correct, the man who killed her was an on the run paedophile...who was the church caretaker. It was a very very sad event and a brutal killing, my heart goes out to her loved ones.

The priest said he had a sexual liason with her, he had also given her accommodation in some of the church buldings. Not a great advert for Catholiscm ...again....

scheming or kombinowac is not always bad. it can be good.

If you're in a fix and are trying to get out of it , kombinowac
If you're thinking about how to work something out , kombinowac
If you're up to no good, kombinowac
If you're thinking or studying, kombinowac
if something is not working out you say

kombinuje jak kon pod gore

literal translation is i am scheming like a horse going up a hill

it means your plan or scheme aren't working out.

In communist times "kombinowanie" was a way of life. Almost nonexistent service industry, stores with bare shelves or just bare necessities on them...you had to "kombinowac" to get a better cut of meat, a car, a refrigerator...just about anything.

I think, some young people are still "leftovers" of those times. Currently, there is no need for kombinacje, when you can get what you want and anytime you want.

Would you call these people successful and intelligent??

They are for me the salt of the earth. People that pack their bags in search of a better future. They don't always succeed but they have the guts to try. Their intelligent enough to adapt to a new culture, learn a new language, and fight for their economic survival.

Yes-just check the British 'Rich List' - its full of people who came here from overseas and helped Britain(and themselves)prosper.

The rich list is a collection of individual people. I was talking about the people in general. Some of the richest people in Britain are Russians!!.....Where did they get their money from??

probably some racist muppet forum although when people lack something in life including intelligence they tend to attack people who r different..best form of defense..last thing they want 2do is find out how stupid they r and that they r 2blame 4 their own stupidity and laziness.all nations r victims of this behaviour.ive lived in krakow almost 8 years and see it in poles too.

I think the majority English are weary of Poles in Jersey. They don't mix, generally sour faced and have attempted on many occassions over the past 3 years to bring drugs into the island.

get sick and tired of listening to this stuff!

You are correct ajgraham in your many views. The Polish got this repuation of being hard honest workers, which maybe some of them are. My friend who owns a bakery had to sack 2 Polish girls as they were stealing cash from the till on a regular basis. Not only that they were also taking stock home.

I have seen the behaviour of some of the younger male Poles are disgracefull and on par with local chavs. I now live in a small town with a majority of Poles compared to any other ethnic minority.

How 1 million uneducated Poles are good for our economy is anyones guess, But as per usual Labour have screwed up. I dont have a problem if trained or professional Poles come here to work pay taxes and benefit the economy, but most seem to just send money back home, and some dont even pay tax. Others have been here for 12 months whoch mean they qualify for benefits and are also claiming for "fake" children which they have in Poland.

I heard though that some London building sites are now refusing to employ Poles because of shoddy work. I was told that at the beginning the work was enthusiastic, but now its not so good anymore, and they don't want to take risks. A person told me of vacancy signs saying "Sorry No Polish".

Has anybody else seen anything similar? It has only been starting over the past 4 weeks apparently.
