kathjake 18 Feb 2007 / #1Hi Everyone,my name is Kath and I run Chester Backpackers, a small, friendly hostel right in the heart of Chester. Chester is a beautiful city and well worth a stop if you are visiting the UK this year. There are many job opportunities for those who wish to stay longer and we can offer cheap long term accommodation if you don't wish to be tied to a rental contract elsewhere. Many Polish people have passed through our doors in the last 12 months - many staying longer than they meant to! Chester has everything from fantastic bars, restaurants, night clubs to Roman history and an amazing zoo. Search for Chester through wikipedia for more information. So whether you're here for fun or work - or both, Chester has something for everyone and we can look after you while you're getting settled. Check out our website by searching for Chester Backpackers you can write to me through there or this forum. Hope to hear from you soon!Kath x

OP kathjake 18 Feb 2007 / #4Hi Babylon, our cheapest rates are in a dormitory, £92 a week then £12 a night after that. Obviously all bills are included and you have access to the kitchen and living areas 24 hours a day. My 100+ plus video collection goes down very well every evening with a few beers from the off licence a few doors down! We have a female only dorm and a mixed dorm.Hi BubbaWoo,cheers for the suggestion I will chase it up. I'm pretty new to this so I'm not really sure how to reach people. I'd love to get more Polish people over here as there is already a large community living, loving and working over here - I just want to spread the word about this great little city!!Kath x
BubbaWoo 33 | 3,506 18 Feb 2007 / #5he is based in krakow where he works with a number of hostels... he has shows in backpackers all over europe, including london, and working with him is a good way to tap into the backpacker market... if you want to get in touch with him, PM me and i will put the 2 of you together... :)
Babylon 16 | 192 18 Feb 2007 / #6our cheapest rates are in a dormitory, £9292 x 4 = 368 pounds for one person per monthWhen I was living in Crewe (close to Chester), we have paid for flat:430 pounds / 4 = 107,50 per person per month + billsWell, but this is possible to live in a dormitory for 400 pounds and in this period try to find a flat but not "agency flat".Do you know what prices are in Colchester, Ipswich? I want to settle the most close to Ryan Air Rzeszów-Stansted airport. You answered to me "the cheapest one" I wonder why:)?
OP kathjake 19 Feb 2007 / #7Ah yes the delights of Crewe......!!Sure, staying in a Backpackers isn't everyone's idea of a long term solution but it's a great starting point to look for work and meet friends whilst finding your feet. Most guests prefer to stay in our shared dormitories but we do have en suite twins and doubles for those wanting to splash out - again check the website for more info chesterbackpackers. you will see a list of availability and prices. We pride ourselves on our homely feel and the small matter of being the cheapest backpacker option in Chester helps too!!!I'm not sure about accommodation in Colchester I'm afraid, we don't seem to have any flyers from that area.
Huegel_Gast 19 Feb 2007 / #8Is the one and only RB's still going?Bringing back memories of my time at Chester Uni is that! hehe
OP kathjake 20 Feb 2007 / #9Yep Rb's is still going strong!! They're open til 3am, 6 days a week now and 2am on Sundays..... Utter maddness. Many a guest has left here the following day with a sore head after a night out in those four walls.
jones43.wanado 6 Mar 2007 / #10Hi, My friend is coming to Chester from Krakow soon and will be looking for work. I need as much info as possible to help her get a job.She will stay with me initially but flat/room hunting will be on the agenda. She will need to meet up with other Polish people too as I'm sure she will soon be tired of me prattling on with my Scottish accent! Anyone out there willing to take her under their wing?
North Pole 6 Mar 2007 / #11to Chester from KrakowSorry buddy, you are on you own now. She could be smart. Hehe.
Huegel 1 | 296 6 Mar 2007 / #12Mate, i spent my 4 years of my life living in Chester. The rent's pretty expensive there mate and if I were you, I wouldn't get a flat in or around the Hoole area. Unless of course it's the new flats in Thomas Brassey Close. They're expensive, but to give them their due, the flats there are not bad at all.Good luck.
