Szczecin - small and compact or a sprawl?

Hi, I am planning a trip to Szczecin and am trying to work out how many meetings I can set up. I know that this is a bit of a how-long-is-a piece-of-string type question, however is it an easy place to get around? Have looked at a couple of maps, but it's really hard to tell.

Not decided yet - still planning.... somwhere cheap and fairly central, I guess.

I would recommend staying central, so you will have an access to public transport - the trams in particular. Taxis are a way to go really and they are fairly inexpensive. It all depends on your budget really. I don't really know where the hostels are located in Szczecin and if this is where you want to say in the first place.

But I can recommend a very nice tea/coffee place run by a friend of mine, which is downtown and close to the transport system:)

Excellent... I know that I'm asking a bit of a "how long is a piece of string type question"

I once went on a trip to Toronto, and I spaced out all of my meetings so that I had two hours between each 45 min slot.... then I realised that each meeting was taking place pretty much in the the same part of town (but they looked so far away on the map LOL!!), so happy days having a nosey in Roots, drinking far too much coffee and getting my nails done inbetween :))

I will defo come back to you for that tea / coffee recommendation as soon as I've made some more progress with my planning.

how long is a piece of string

Surely the question is "How long is a thread?"

"How long is a thread?"

Twice as long as half its length.

lol, Toronto is a big city and it all depends on how people travel to meet and at what time of the day. i guess it would be the same in London. Szczecin is much smaller and I would assume that it would not take people you are going to meet more than 30 minutes to get to the destination, unless they live far out. It is possible because Szczecin is quite spread out for its size, but honestly 30-40 minutes on a tram or by car should do it.

The coffee shop has a nice ambience and a wide choice of teas and coffees. I might even have a wireless internet access from what I remember.

It was a mad trip - everything that I needed seemed to be on the junction of Bay and Yonge. My hotel was there too, and I even popped back to my room for a nap between meetings one day :D

Cheers for the tea room tip - there was a brilliant article on Polish tea rooms in Discover Poland magazine not so long ago.

Stay on the left side of Odra river where the town center is. Getting to Szczecin center may take up to one hour from some locations on the right side of Odra - town has huge lake within its borders, crossing bridges with trafic can take time.

a central cheap place to stay is in Hotel Gryf. I had a room with shower toilet and tv for 87zl a night. there are cheaper rooms for about 60zl a nite. they are on Wojska Polskieo at Jagiellonska.. Very central. 15 minute walk to either Turzyn & Galaxy malls (the 2 main ones). I've been riding the transit system for years... and its pretty damn good!! I just bought a car.... so its muuuuuch easier, cleaner, drier, less stinky, etc.
