New Year's Eve in Warsaw. How to spend it?

Hey

Me and some friends are coming to Warsaw to spend new year's eve. So I was wondering if anyone had some tips on what usually goes on with NYE. i.e. what bars/disco's should we check out and how much does the entree (and beer) cost?

Thanks in advance

Arno

Don't bother. Everywhere gets stupidly expensive. Most places do an 'all inclusive' deal where you get food and drink (i.e. a pathetic cold buffet and watered down house beer/vodka) for a set price (at least 500zl per person). Other places (which are usually free to get in) charge 250zl just to get in (and have one drink). Good luck getting a taxi with anything less than a three hour waiting time.

I'm positive this is related to the (to me) mental habit of having to go to some sort of formal occasion on New Year's Eve - hence why I've decided never to spend another in Poland. For some reason, people wearing formal clothes is suddenly an exchange to charge a small fortune for something that's absolutely rubbish.

I thought they had a concert and fireworks doo Warsaw?

I thought they had three televised ones, Wroclaw, Krakow and Warsaw. I did the Wroclaw one and i know for sure Shakin Stevens was on in Krakow.

Wroclaw had Basshunter not bad but not as good as shaky!

Saw Shakin as well on the TV, rabbit + headlights, springs to mind. We go to friends or throw a party, let some fireworks off, I prefer that than struggling to park in the city and fighting your way through crowds. I went to one in Krakow a few years ago and it was great, apart from the above points, also the prices went a bit mad, so I enjoy being nearer home to be honest.

The whole time I stayed in Krakow I only once stayed in the city for New Year. And that was at my ex's very boring friends who looked shocked when I brought alcohol, then forced me into playing board games!!

Normally we would rent out a chalet somewhere near Roznow or go to Prudnik :)

In Prudnik it was nothing as it was a friend of a friends place.

Roznow cost us about 30pln for the 2 nights, 10 people in total, 300pln, in or around that figure.

I wouldn't have a clue, but I can imagine some of them would be a little fecked up like that :D
Ha! too slow for me then mods :P

Check pub called Lolek. It has nice reviews as a student-friendly place with a lot of music.

I always thought it was a bit hilly than mountainous. But where there are belly dancing girls...I shall seek them out.
