No, but Britain has a huge drink problem. Russians for example drink even more but they do it at home and you never see drunken groups of Russians on the street in Russia, and they're rarely violent with their drink. It's a more gentle social thing.

In Krakow, you do get groups of Polish men who are drunk - but usually either conscripts who've just been released, or there's just been a football match. It's very uncommon to see them misbehaving at any other time.

Britain has the tradition of groups of flying awat for a stag party. And unfortunately the style of drinking involves a lot of noise and aggression.

As sad as that statement is, it's true. It the Brits who have this reputation at the moment, no one else...

Every country has groups like this, every young lad more or less no matter where they are from, unless their a muslim i guess, get drunk and go a bit mental sometimes.

It is an issue in the UK but DRINK is an issue all over the world. Lets not start on football hooliganism, i think the Poles are near the top of that tree along with italy. At least in the UK there isn't much trouble inside the stadium :)

Football hooliganism and what goes on in stadiums is a whole world unto itself.

I don't know how often you walk through central Krakow, but what is being talked about here should be obvious as the nose on your face if you do.

The WORST places in Krakow are around the Rynek as the drunk, daft Brits just wander round in circles going from bar to bar and then you go and recommend these places to someone about to visit Krakow. Bit contradictory to everything that has been said on this thread, don't you think?

You really shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush,i'm flying out on a stag do in may,I like a drink but don't go around singing and being aggressive,i'm 48 and haven't had a fight or thrown a punch in anger for 32 years,can you guys say the same?Please don't tar us all with the same brush,were not all like that!!

I agree that slavic people are more silent and quiet when they drink.They don't bother anyone,at least purposely.

Nice skirting around the subject here, as it never ceases to amaze me how people can so blindly and so stupidly turn the subject around.

This city has a culture that needs preserving from these chav lowlifes, we don't like them in the UK and you are trying to defend them in Krakow, what sense is that??

Personally I am ashamed to be British when I see these idiots representing our country in Poland and I steer well away from such types, but maybe it's because I have been in this country for nine years now and really care about it's culture and people and wish it to remain in the same way as I found it years ago not polluted western influences such as McDonalds and such like.

A few must be killed, then the rest will behave. Sad but true.

And Wroclaw is fast catching up too, my wife and i went out for dinner with another couple on Friday night in the Rynek, we booked and asked for somewhere quiet, right next to the 15 guys on a stag do. When i went to pay, 2 of the larger guys where telling the owner they where not paying for their meals as they where to small..

I Lived in Prague for one year in 2001, that was the year that the cheap flights began from UK into Prague. I loved Prague it was so relaxing, people were lovely, you wouldn't meet too many people from the UK, there were only a handful living there, then all of a sudden whilst enjoying my coffee on the terrace in Old Town Square, I heard, Olay, Olay Olya Olay and a bunch of English people shouting and singing in the square, must have been a stag night. The group proceeded to hurl abuse and insults at the waitresses and waiters, I thought at that moment, Prague would never be the same again. I left in January 2002 after seeing the place change into a Zoo for English drunks. It's now happening in Poland, Krakow and Gdansk, it's a pity that the Police don;t do anything about these Hooligans, they should be brought to book for public order offences.

A mate was telling me of his brothers experiance on a stag do in Poland,he told me with a shocked disgusted tone that his brother had been drunk ,picked a fight with a local ,got picked up by the Police and had seven shades kicked out of him in the back of the van.....Oh I admired my self control for not peeing myself with laughter.

The blame lies with the cheap airlines. If flights to Krakow were more expensive there would be no lager louts and stag parties.. simple as that. With it getting cheaper to fly to more Polish cities it will only spread. Spain suffered the same problem back in the days when cheap package holidays were invented.

And,do you think the tickets are only cheap one way? A cheap flight to Warsaw from here is also a cheap flight from Warsaw to here! Lets ban cheap flights and make it stupidly expensive for Polish ex pats to nip home to see their families.

People always find a place where they can get drunk and make fools of themselves. Americans do that in Cancun, Mexico.

I dont think you have understood my point. I am certainly not a snob and nor am I saying that all cheap flights should be banned, but I do think that its a simple fact that destinations with cheap flights attract lager louts looking for a cheap weekend away. Having said that it would help the planet if there werent so many cheap airfares.. bring back the golden age of travelling by ship. As for rugby players on a night out, actually no, I never have come across that.. guess it depends where you hang out.

I have to say I probably wouldn't be able to travel as much as I do if they weren't so cheap, but having said that the first time I went to the Czech Rep it cost me £250 for a flight (it was quite a long time ago) and I dont remember there being a lot of English, the only English we bumped into were a group of guys (all in their late 40is) who had been travelling their since the late 80is and yes they enjoyed a drink but they weren't loud and drunken...we only met those kind when we went to watch Sparta Prague play....and they were drunk czech hooligans!
