LIDLJUGEND 2 | 34 3 Jul 2008 / #61I guess, the main reason why foreigners are coming to Poland is employment opportunities. Any other?Bigos?
Foreigner4 12 | 1,768 3 Jul 2008 / #62i think idw made a good observation on page one.as a side note, i wonder what the mathematical calculation would be for factoring idw's attempts to bring race into this as a general predictor of social incompetence due to a complex on his part, any takers?
masks98 27 | 289 5 Jul 2008 / #63I think that the whole thing about blacks having lower IQ's is probably true. People often mention that blacks are more athletic then whites, I think that that's probably true too. Many frail blacks with weaker physiologies were wiped out during the slave trade, mostly strong ones survived and reproduced, their weak children were killed, and so on and so forth. I think thats why blacks seem to be on the athletic side today.Same with intelligence. ******* with the African continent caused a sad history of poverty that must have fostered a culture of malnutrition,of nutritional deficiencies that might have affected the gene pool negatively. Today it is clear that African Americans in poor neighborhoods have horrible eating habits, but my point is that slavery, colonialism, segregation etc, all combined to create the culture of poverty for blacks where blacks were malnourished. So if blacks tend to be on the low IQ side, I think that this could bge the reason, I could be proved wrong though. But in the end - So what? these IQ tests don't help much, they're mostly used by racists as a stick to beat blacks with. They don't help you predict the type of black person that might walk in the door. IQ itself is a bad judge of people.
Seanus 15 | 19,674 5 Jul 2008 / #64Good post masks98.I'd argue that people will perform better when they know their IQ is being tested. Most people don't live their lives according to gaining more IQ points, it's an elitist concept as applied by those who do it.
David_18 66 | 969 5 Jul 2008 / #65While thousands of Poles are leaving Poland, many foreigners are coming inI guess, the main reason why foreigners are coming to Poland is employment opportunities. Any other? It's a kinda easy question. Large Companies Moving to Poland and bring down their own people and giving them high rank occupations in the company. And giving the "polish" natives some shity occupation like cleaning or being an secretary or something.Sad but true...
Seanus 15 | 19,674 5 Jul 2008 / #66The tide is turning. From a teaching perspective, I can see the benefits of native speakers but I think it's a good thing when more Polish teachers can get positions. That's what they study for after all.Poles just need the vision to be leaders or those who want high ranking positions. The Poles will not be made subservient too easily, trust me. They are gaining a better sense of their own self worth, not like it was under communism.
Wahldo 5 Jul 2008 / #67IQ itself is a bad judge of people.Yes.. it doesn't measure creativity or charisma, both key factors in success. It doesn't even really measure mechanical aptitude.
masks98 27 | 289 5 Jul 2008 / #68well for one thing the mind is plastic as they used to say, it expands its powers with practice, and withers through negligence, so that a person with a 90 IQ can become very intelligent or stupid depending on the life he/she has lived.
noimmigration 6 Jul 2008 / #69if oles have high iqs, then why do they all clean toilets and work in mindless jobs ?
lesser 4 | 1,311 6 Jul 2008 / #71...and if your IQ was anything, you wouldn't be repeating yourself every day.Bobby Fisher had huge IQ and he repeated himself very often. Of course noimmi is a completely different case...
Zgubiony 15 | 1,553 6 Jul 2008 / #73Had to go and quote me huh? LOL I was trying not to stoop to his level and removed it :)
masks98 27 | 289 6 Jul 2008 / #74f oles have high iqs, then why do they all clean toilets and work in mindless jobs ?all? Well then you gotta admire a people that can run the strongest economy in the east (russia excepted) by scrubbing toilets. Are you an f-ing moron or just a moron?
lesser 4 | 1,311 6 Jul 2008 / #77By the matter of fact, Poland is not the strongest economy per capita in the east. If you mean not per capita then this is non-achievement.Relax people, noimmi is pissed off because he lost his job in some toilet. :)

SeanBM 35 | 5,806 7 Jul 2008 / #82Why are foreigners coming to Poland and from which countries? Why not, seems like a funny question.I came because I was offered a job, I am from Ireland.I love to travel.
GodandBrown 2 | 63 7 Jul 2008 / #83British and American people are often adventurers or they use a six months-gap toavoid taxes after having taught two years in one country. When winter in Poland comes they get depressed. Not family-connected they work overtime, teach a lot to get the only thing they can get here: A bit money. There is no beautiful Polish woman who moons over belly-telly video-playing male teachers from abroad. Most native speaker in Poland are totally overvalued...by themselves. Nevertheless...Poland is worth travelling...pupils and adults are hard-working, they speak much better than Spanish pupils and they...oh...forget it.
masks98 27 | 289 7 Jul 2008 / #84I got a beautiful polish woman who mooned over me - thats why im here, most americans i met are here because of beautiful polishwomen they got with

GodandBrown 2 | 63 7 Jul 2008 / #88It was addressed to everyone who has experiences with Catholic Poland. But I know, I'm not up to date...
Seanus 15 | 19,674 7 Jul 2008 / #89I'm just glad that the thread title isn't, 'Why are foreigners coming in Poland?', I've seen that so many times.
