What do Polish friends think of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton?

Obama or Clinton?
Answer is McCain
No Joe 6-pack will vote for a black or a woman.
Dems should win by the landslide, would they not be that stupid.
In my humble opinion Democrats should go to some other line of business and stay away from politics.
Consolation - there is no difference, its a waste of money and time.
Present idiot (and his evil cronies) got US in a bind, non ending war and bankrupt country. For you guys living in the US my advice - MOVE while your $ is worth anything.

Why wouldn't people vote for a woman? It happens all the time in other countries!
I firmly believe both of them on the ticket is the way to victory for the Democratic Party - who cares which is VP or P.

I know many of my friends have thought of moving to Canada or other countries, if McCain is elected!

Well I backed Barack at 10/1 about a year ago and laid him at 2/1 after a couple of the primaries.

So in short, I couldn't care less either way. If I was pressed I would go for Obama as Clinton quite frankly scares me!!

Thankfully, there is no money for other world improvements, so no war with Iran. It also seems that the military is running out of the cannon fodder, even after lowering requirements (no high school, criminal record are OK). The other reason being - Iran is way bigger and not devastated by sanctions. I realized that most of you are living in the paradise (USA), you should remember that your grand kids will be paying for the present idiot's adventures. Sanity will raise its ugly head soon - McCain will have to ask Chinese for permission before embarking on another one.

World of consolation about your elections: looking from the outside one needs a magnifying glass to see difference between republicans and democrats. In the world politics both parties are doing Israel's bidding. Internally the joint is bankrupted, thus no funds for any social programs. There is no need for any since population is well pacified by ignorance, personal uncertainties (debt, work), cheap booze, skillful propaganda, limitless third world labor pool waiting to be allowed in, and scare of next employer moving overseas.

About your freedoms, try to mention labor union at your workplace or express sympathy toward socialism and see if you will still be working after a lunch break.

Actually, the great-grandkids...but, no matter to most of them.

There are Labor Unions still here, and they are holding on tightly. Just don't go into Walmart and say those words, or their security will haul you out!

Janek;
I tried to find a flaw in your post. But everything you said is true. I am speaking as an American along with many others that are opposed toi this stupid war. This IDIOT got us into something that they cant get out of. We have to abide by what our leaders decide. But we have the final word.. ELECTION DAY

Both Obama and Hillary are very mediocre.Maybe they represent the average but I doubt how much power a president really has.

Both Cinton and Obama, in my opinion, are personally very, very smart. Unfortunately both are, out of necessity, corrupted by big business. The whole system of elections is rigged the way that only the established two franchises are allowed to be heard. At the beginning there were some who, if elected will bring real change (Kucinich, Ron Paul). No one supported them and neither one lasted, I do not even mention Ralph Nader.

You Americans still have it too good, it is a reach country and will take a lots of abuse, but there are limits. What you need is not an improvement and patching up but a dramatic change (revolution anyone?).

About coming election sure Democrats are the lesser evil, but you had chosen McCain and deserve what's coming. You will survive him too, a bit poorer with less freedoms, but as long as beer is flowing everything is OK.

I doubt about that.I bet Obama passed exams into university through affirmative action although I do not know it.I make an assumption.

Julie, I would bet you not one will move. Please make a post one year after the election and tell us how many have moved.

Southern: I bet Obama passed exams into university through affirmative action although I do not know it. I make an assumption.

A poor assumption. Obama is graduate of Harvard Law School. They accept no one based on affirmative action. They have so many applications, they can pick the absolute cream of the crop. Why would you assume that other than prejudice?

of Harvard Law School. They accept no one based on affirmative action.

Are you sure?I would be surprised if it were really like that.Anyway I will try to search.(so Yale law school picks the absolute cream of the top as well or is it inferior?).

If you have George Bush, America's favorite idiot, in mind, he got in Yale because he was a legacy. That is, his father went to Yale, and they have a program that allows for legacies to be admitted even though they don't have the best qualifications.

I just searched a bit.It seems the subject is interesting for others too. There is open question in wiki about the actual Obama's LSAT scores which has not been answered yet.He has also been asked this question on his blog.I guess nothing will be released before elections.(the same regarding Hillary's scores).

My personal opinion:Bill Clinton is very smart,I can recognize that.Hillary is not outstandingly smart, maybe she has an IQ of 120.Obama stands a bit lower let's say about 115.Anyway this is my impression.I will see if I am right in case their actual scores will be reported.

Hillary is very, very smart..

That's even worse for the general public. Smart politician = even more fraud money for her and her advocates.

Obama is a little outsider, but he is clearly a better choice for America. Yet another "know-how insider" in Washington (H. Clinton) is way too much. When you think about it, only two families have been in the white house since 1980 when the Bush'es father was a vice-president. Since then Bush and Clinton familes governed the US. Now we see the consequences. Besides, what is this supposed to be, a family monarchy?

I don't understand why so many Poles in USA are for McCain. I think these are mostly uneducated people who only judge people by the appearances and have no idea about politics or the political programs (McCain appears to be a "decent" guy, one with whom it would be possible to drink vodka, and for some reason Poles like that). Other than that, Polonia think the Republicans are those who are "church goers and Christians or at least believers" and that they don't kill unborn children, but this is complete nonsense too. All in all, in the past 100 years, the Democrats were the ones for the people and their well-off and when the Republicans were on top, the country started unnecessery wars and self-terrorism.

The very best choice would be an alternative, independent candidate (Jesse Ventura or Ron Paul for example), but that's not going to happen in this country unless there's social and moral revolution.

Poles are for McCain because they believe in business and not socio-democratic government which reminds them of the past in Poland. No respectable family owning a business wants a democrat, who will tax them - just to give it away.

Most Polish business people feel that republican party is better for the business, better for them. Only the "poor' (read lazy) people count on some government 'scarps" thrown their way. Most enjoys the opportunity the republican government promises.

That's just a general opinion overheard.
Frankly, I too don't want to have taxes increased so I can support the people who'd rather play poor, instead of getting their arse moving and work. If I can do it as an immigrant, some third generations of bums can too.

I don't know what's going to happen in November - yet, but neither Obama or Hilary strikes my fancy. If I go for Hilary, it would be only because I want to see a woman win. Not because I believe what she stands for.

That's why McCain might be my guy.

That's a little of an oversimplification.
Taxes may have to be raised to pay for the irresponsible fiscal policies of the conservatives. Bush practically ruined the Union.

Would you rather pay for the rich and affluent by being burdened with the high cost of wars so that big companies can get fat contracts in Iraq? Do you realize how much big corporations get in federal subsidies?

Having said that, I don;t really see any difference between dems and cons in the US. After all, both parties are just puppets and storefronts of Pepsico and the like.

After 2 terms of Bush as president it is only totally insane to even waste a vote for McCain. It's just unacceptable, McCain would continue this bushshit. You probably still believe in the official story of 911 and then I know it may make sense for you to vote for him. Here is the true story, video.

How many billions of dollars was wasted for the war? Do you still want other billions wasted? How much money will your lower taxes save you? Probably less than you have to spend more now for gas thanks to the Bush administration. You are told you pay less taxes, but pay more for everything else - would you still happy about that? Or just the feeling that you pay less taxes is enough to vote for them.

Obama is more against the easy black life than Clinton who supports the unemployed. Obama wants them to get their arse and work just like he did.

Another thing - him as a president would do a lot more good in this "black" issue. Now when a black man is a president, they would not have an excuse they had no chances in life and are crippled from the start just because they are black. "Are you black? - great, you can be a president too!" would be my answer to them.

Voting for Hillary just because she is a woman is a wasted vote, just like voting for McCain.

Hello Hello,

That's even worse for the general public. Smart politician = even more fraud money for her and her advocates.

Very good. Wasn't it Aristotle who said that one who would be a good ruler (politician) wouldn't want to be one?
Poles will vote Republican - very likely, I do not want to bash my compatriots, but Polish emigrants, in general, were not a smart lot. Driven by poverty emigrated from the poorest regions of Poland landless peasants, uneducated, with no skills. No surprise the Catholic Church wields so much power over them and it is clergy who are indicating to vote Republican. New immigrants totally different.

The topic good for a threat - Is Polish Catholicism Superficial? In my opinion, by being so ritualistic, it resembles more pagan religions. I am an atheist raised with just a smidgen of religion (in 1991 Catholic authorities refused to allow my father to be buried in his family grave at the Powązki).

For an outsider it looks rather humorous candidates outdoing each other how religious each of them is. The other is having an US flag pinned to a very visible place. For that alone I will vote for Obama - so far he did not succumb to this. When I was in the US noticed that not only politicians, but business people as well having a US flag right there where it would be noticed, usually they removed it (or change for a Canadian one) on a flight to Europe.

It is according to US guidelines to american travellers.

In my opinion a slavic president(of polish, russian or whatever origin) would be a better solution for USA.
