FISZ 24 | 2,116 4 Dec 2006 / #1I'm hearing word of a possible kurfew for kids under 18 in Poland. Anyone in PL hear anything about this?
OP FISZ 24 | 2,116 4 Dec 2006 / #3And this is all over? What time are they thinking? Do you think this will cause more underage to rebel and cause more trouble afterhours?
Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 4 Dec 2006 / #4I don't know much about it. It's all down to our education minister. And you know what we think of him.
jasiu 4 Dec 2006 / #6word on the street says its under 16s and that each individual region council/government will vote on it for their region - doubtful it will hapen in the TCwhat did others hear?
Varsovian 91 | 634 5 Dec 2006 / #7The fascist Giertych said curfews would only be imposed after local referenda. It's a good move - would you want to be hounded by little thugs?
Wroclaw 44 | 5,379 5 Dec 2006 / #8I don't see any problems here, so we don't need a curfew.Besides if anyone is going to commit a crime they will do it regardless of a curfew.
Varsovian 91 | 634 6 Dec 2006 / #9My locality doesn't need it either, thankfully. Some places might, though.
Jasiu 6 Dec 2006 / #11lets make it 21 and keep the kids off the street whilst the rest of us have fun...
Lee-UK 10 Dec 2006 / #12They have a curfew system in England for criminals, its known as the "tag". Basically when you are on the tag you have a device fitted to your leg, if you leave the house during your curfew hours it calls the police and you are arrested.
peterweg 37 | 2,311 4 Mar 2007 / #15A similar policy exist in the UK. groups of more than 2 children are not allowed to congregate in certain exclusion area's. Its effective.
daffy 23 | 1,500 4 Mar 2007 / #16A curfew is not really a solution. Its education from a very early level. Its getting involved in the community - get them before they get bored and get into anti social behaviourIm one to talk - I wouldnt be volunteering to do this - I know its something that requires paid, trained proffesstional people to engage the community with full support (it aint coming) from funders (gov't local business)It is an investment to be sure - the stats speak for themselves (anti social behavior is on the rise and rise!)a curfew is not a proactive solution and is not a really good reactive solution.after suggesting the above proactive - what would i suggest as reactive?open centres where they can 'hang' out in a safe, monitored envoirment. Show films, tv, computer games. (all under CCTV to ensure safetyy and issue fines and communtity service to YOUNG age offenders! forget prison - thats a cost to community rather than a cost to the offender
