Why are the polski's always trolling the aisles at TK max looking for a 'bargain', the stuff they buy is really cheap, very bad fashion, to put it plain, stuff that no one else would buy?

isn't it a cherished American adage that a penny saved is a penny earned?

Circa 1904. Up until recently, the new adage has been "Will that be cash or charge?"

the new adage has been "Will that be cash or charge?"

It's shifting towards "will that be Visa or MasterCard"?

Some of this supposed behavior might come from having been exposed to Jewish culture for many years, or perhaps the Germans...And as for you, what is your ethnic heritage?

Actually, it's a Scottish saying: "a penny hained is a penny gained".

Who Scots are?

Scots are former citizens of Poznań who were banish from Greater Poland because of their extravagance.

Right, so now Poznań and Kraków fly the stingy flag :)

Some must be proud of their heritage and uphold it, whatever it is. :)

Yeah but you shouldn't blame others (through a stereotype) for that which you are yourself ;) ;)

Just kidding, I know countless people here who would happily buy me lunch and expect nothing in return. The lack of tipping gets me though :(

O yeah... this forum is plenty of stereotypes, simplifications, generalisations fed by arrogance and ignorance.

I love things when people say that some is just because...

Thankfully, most Poles are humble when it comes to their means. Unfortunately, more and more are just interested in seeing their bank balances rise :(

I have just logged on to this site as a new member,I am also Scottish and ashamed at what you have written about Polish people, they are definitely the politest and most hardworking nation of people I know and you are obviously to young or stupid to ignore the massive debt we owe them for their assistance in world war 2,so why not do everyone a favour and take a 4 week holiday in Mexico.

Well, you don't know me then. I love many people here and was just making a statement that has much truth. Go on, ask the resident Poles here that this is the case. You can keep your 19 cases of swine flu, don't bring them here. Your stupid government agreed to go on a list and I was almost detained at a border for that, so keep your smarmy comments to yourself.

I live and work here, I have often spoken on how hard they work and for so little. Do you work here, goofy? Something of an expert are we?

Go and look at a relevant thread where I said we are indebted to them. I wrote on it just today. The Poles and the Scots got on really well :)

Some people listen only to themselves, there is no point to try to discuss anything with them.

I dont think Polish people are cheap, they just understand the value of money. They are like us Irish were 10 yrs ago before we were duped into thinking we were rich and we all went crazy. Now its us that are 'cheap' just like we have been for 790 yrs out of the last 800 :)

Polish hookers can be quite exensive

When i was driving a truck around Poland i was several times approached whilst parked up by nubile young ladies , not many of them were actually Polish though , Latvian , Lithuanian , Russian , but not so many Polish..... I have no idea what their prices were tho , probably more than i could afford....

I am not surprised that a Scottish trucker (**** me, what a demographic) is picking up cheap Polish hookers, I am almost pained to respond to his idiocy, but don't worry world, no doubt this prick will die quickly from a battered mars bar heart attack . . .

You know it always tickles me when I see this thread reappear LOL...

That is soooooooooo not true, the Irish I have met (plenty of them in my life time) have been amongst the most hospitable and generous people I have had the pleasure to know. My mates mum would insist (there was no aruging with her!) that you stayed for tea, even if you were just popping round to drop something off! Also when in Cork there wasn't a night when we weren't being offered drinks...

Being smart with money isn't an indication of being cheap. The one's that don't have it (ratcatcher..) are the one's to point out ridiculous stereotypes. Being ignorant is CHEAP. People that have money don't have to pretend like others. I make money by being smart with money. As a result, the outcome is very beneficial and secure. If you can't pay cash; than rethink if you really need the materialistic. I have never sacrificed my standards by utilizing money to my advantage! I'd like to see (ratcatcher's portfolio), to be so judgemental...
