Why are Polish people cheap?

wholeheartedly agree that people should live within their means

key word here :) People.. anyone can be careless and not know what they get their
selfs into.. so its people in general..

and just for the record, I dont care for TJ Max.. I wasnt impressed at all..
and I dont buy cheap because if I did, I would be sacraficing my familys well being
and thats not worth it.

so I think when someone sterotypes a certain group of people for trying to save
a few extra dollars. when everyone does it.. deserves whats coming to him.. and
hopefully when hes sitting in the gutter wondering what went wrong he will then
realize how sad and selfish his statements are.

You wont buy sth because it's marked down in price? Most of these things are overstock. How would that effect their well being? Now kmary or Wallmart may be questionable.

I said cheap.. I can tell whats cheap and poorly made.. I never said I wouldnt save a
few bucks and everyone does it.. you would be stupid not to..

paying the price for their extravagence

I agree with that too. I can see that happening in any place. Some people just don't understand.

selfs into.. so its people in general..

of course the key word is people but as we are all aware, credit hasnt been available in poland for as long as other countries and as such, poles are arguably in a more vulnerable position than others.

instead of having them feel 'vicitmised' yet again, efforts should be made to ensure that financial responsibility is encouraged and the potential dangers of overstretched credit made clear

I dont buy cheap because if I did, I would be sacraficing my familys well being and thats not worth it.

im suprised you would say such a thing about tj/tk maxx - does the quality of designer clothes somehow drop from one season to the next...?

Flat tits and a midden, I think not!! Not to my knowledge. U r a Scottish man like me ratcatcher so u should know our reputation for being cheap and overly stingy. I prefer to see it as frugal and thrifty but who am I to change a well established stereotype? I can only fly the flag proudly and try to dispel this image. Many Poles are cheap because they have to be. They are aware of the need to save.

I said I wasnt impressed, the clothes were not bad, I just didnt like what I saw..
I am more of Kohls, vanity, aeropostale shopper. and I find bargains there all the
time.

just certain stores you find more of what you like.. has nothing to do with
cheap. its more of preference.

and if its a bargain, and not to my liking and Im not going to wear it, why buy it just
because its a few dollars less when I can save for something I will really wear and
is what I like.. not a impulsive shopper.

I was lured in by one of these cheap clothes shops. Two pairs of trousers for a tenner? Whoohoo!
On one pair, the flies wouldn't stay done up. The other pair just started to come undone at the stitching after one day at work.

Yawn.

All this stuff is fascinating. Why are we keeping a trollogenic thread alive anyway?

Then returned - the dirty slag!

I suppose it is our thread. Perhaps some kind moderator could just remove all the bits posted by the troll and we can get on with talking about cheap trousers.

why is it, that polish people are considered as low lives

Where do you get that idea from ?

Only an ignorant, intellectually challenged pratt could make such a distorted generalisation about a nation !

Why are the polski's always trolling the aisles at TK max looking for a 'bargain', the stuff they buy is really cheap, very bad fashion, to put it plain, stuff that no one else would buy?

You'd have had to be 'trolling' the aisles yourself inorder to make such an observation :o)

There's nothing wrong in buying cheap stuff - Poles will look for bargains as in many cases they are saving the money they earn to buy property/businesses back in Poland.

My wife who is Polish often shops in Primark & Lidl because she can make a saving, and the quality of the goods sold is very good.

polish guys are ugly, the woman - their monsters (big noses, no tits),

Have you ever been to Poland ? ..... probably not, otherwise you wouldn't be making such rubbish comments !

i would point out that i am male and from scotland

I've got nothing against Scotland ...... and don't want to get involved in a petty Polish v Scotland argument ..... most Scots I have met are great people ...... and I don't believe your comments are a general overview of most decent Scots ....

I dont buy cheap because if I did

me either, but its because I have snob mentality, if I can aford to purchase that dress from French Connection, Im not going to buy anything...

I'd like to share with you the fact I bought a lovely pair of shoes from Faith at lunch time which will go lovely with the dress I 'did' purchase from Connection (in the sale yesterday - patience is virtue) - for me cheap clothes are badly made, of cheap material and dont wash / look very nice.

But its about livings within our means.

i think polish people just aren't as wasteful with their money. maybe they'd rather spend £2 on a big healthy meal made at home rather than £4 on s**t at mac donalds. just as an example. they seem to be not as nearly a lazy nation as ours. not even close. they have a better satisfaction with what they do, because they work hard for it.

i guess its just as bad generalising in a good way... but from what i've learnt through the people i have met, its definitely true.

and they are not cheap, always up for helping a friend out. very generous and loyal people.

hope this made sense :S

Polish know how to make their money go further. They also know the difference between broken and worthless. When was the last time an American took something to a repair shop? My gf forces me to see if I can fix something first before I go buy something new. Can't say it's been all bad, most of the time it gets fixed for very cheap. TJMax or Walmart doesn't exist because Polish shop there, it exists because almost everyone shops there.

so true. maybe a lot of polish people shop there because with TK Maxx can be quite an effort to find stuff you like, and once again, the Poles aren't afraid to work a bit harder for a better reward.

I don't understand why looking for bargains is even a thing to be questioned. People shop where they can efford to shop and living beyond means will result in financial problems in the future.

Getting more for less is the way to go and there is nothign wrong with it.

I absolutely agree with this statement. Why would someone want to go into debt simply to say that they shopped in a "better" store?

For example credit cards are the work of the devil. Too many people live off them so are therefore continually in debt.

Polish people aren't cheap - they're sensible, why pay a higher amount for something you can buy cheaper elsewhere and you wouldn't notice the difference anyway?

kind of explains why the US and UK are having so many problems in the stock markets due to over lending ect...

Yep - gone are the days people saved up for something they wanted. Now they get a credit card and just buy it, then something else and something else. Then they can't pay off the debt, so they get a loan from a company that'll take more money from them for paying off the credit card and then they now owe that company money. Meanwhile, there's something else they want...save up? No, get another credit card and it begins again.

Obviously not everyone lives like this but it's common. Rather be cheap than spend money I don't have.

because people are being manipulated into thinking (advertisement )that what you wear and what you own (being often is debt) is who you are. Later, they find out that they are still unhappy, because they are missing something in life anyways.

give it as aid. now no one can say that poles does not contribute to the British economy now!

This is not true. The evidnece suggests that having all these working class Poles in england now is costing us considerably more than they are contributing. The schools are over full and the hospitals can not cope. I think these figures should be added up and the Polish government should pick up the bill.

The schools are over full and the hospitals can not cope.

An influx of Polish people may not have helped but previous to the mass migration, schools were too full (government saying they'd reduce class sizes etc - perhaps a solution is to stop closing schools) and hospitals were not coping anyway (perhaps a solution is to stop closing hospitals..)

Jkn005 wrote, "when was the last time an American took something to a repair shop?"

The modern world lives in a throw-away society. Last year, e.g., our eight year old color TV (telly) stopped showing a picture. Sound still worked. To have a new picture tube installed would have cost $400. Just to have the repair people look at it, and give me an estimate would have cost $100. I took it to the recycle yard and bought a new one for $525.

For the record, Poles are not cheap. We're frugal.

That is why it is better to pay your money for better quality. Go somewhere that has good quality clothes but good sales

Yep - gone are the days people saved up for something they wanted.

Some of us still do it; either that, or I do overtime to pay for it. ;)

I may be a stupid, fat, ugly, drunken, chain-smoking, badly-dressed uneducated lower-class Pole (if you believe the stereotypes on here that is, lol :) ) but I don't owe anyone a penny - in fact, I'm owed £1800! :)
