Language / Any useful words to tell kids to behave? [19]

Oh I think if grab him firm and tell him that the next time he throws something at you he will be hit, then I'm sure he will understand. Maybe get angry and raise your voice. - Children are not that stupid and they will simmer down if they see it got serious. He he.

It's not that children are bad at that age, but they just look how far they can go. :-)

Or you use the phrase: Pani tu nie stała! Pani nie jest w ciąży!. It's a saying from the communistic time which says: You didn't stood here and you aren't pregnant either.. :-P

Language / Advice on a good Polish Dictionary [6]

Strange that in the 'Look Inside' pages, one of the views is of a Hindi-English dictionary.

It's strange indeed. I didn't notice. :-P

The only dictionary I can get my hands on is one produced more for Polish speakers learning English, with some notes on usage in the English - Polish section, but shedding little or no light in the Polish - English section.

You mean Longman's one?

Language / Advice on a good Polish Dictionary [6]

I'm looking for a good Polish dictionary. I'm thinking of the /Hippocrene-Standard-Dictionary-Polish-English-English-Polish/ - dictionary of Pogonowski, but I'd like your advises. In Dutch I have one pocket dictionary, but it's a bit limited. Dziękuję bardzo in advance (what is in advance in Polish? :-))!

btw, you can set your Winows to have polish fonts. The instructions were posted in some post in the past.

Or use a Polish dictionary plug-in for Firefox. Then you can right-click and correct the the word. łatwy bardzo! :-)

Life / "Wrong" Polish music [13]

I think it will suit. Could you give me some songs/artist names?
Furthermore in The Netherlands that sort of kitschy music is not only disco pop, but it ranges from schlager like songs sang by common figures, to "house wife pop", or that is where their public mostly consist of. :P

Life / "Wrong" Polish music [13]

I don't know if they have an equivalent for it in English, but in Dutch we speak about "wrong music" (lit. translated), when it concerns very bad kitschy but funny music which every Dutchmen knows.

I was wondering if you guys could point me to some of those songs in Poland so that I could learn them on my guitar and make my Polish friends laugh when I visit them. :D

I had a discussion with a friend of mine because he said that Polish live in a toad and prey to the "Holy Ox". While I swore to him that everyone knows that they live in trees and prey to various holy sculptures made of turf... So am I right or what?? :-)

Language / Info on Polish Diminutives [14]

I was wondering if you have a diminutive for the name "Justyna" in Poland? I know that Tomasz = Tomek and Katarzyna = Kasia for example. :-)
