News / What is the future of Catholic church in Poland. [154]

I ask serious question.

How do you see the future of Catholic Church in Poland and other christian religions future.

PM Buzek was protestant so lets talk about christians in general. No body had problems with him being protestant.

We are tradtional stronghold fo Christianity. EU is agains christian politicians

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocco_Buttiglione

he is exaple of christian who can't be EU commisioner because of his personal believes.

What do you think about our future.

His being proposed as a European Commissioner resulted in controversy, as some political groups opposed him for his Roman Catholic views on homosexuality, despite his assurances that these were only his personal convictions and would not dictate his administration.

We have first persecutions ... in politics and real life.

Isn't it possible to be good christian and expert in the same moment work in european administration ? Why my religous believes are so important when we talk about being architect lawer politician ? Are atheists better than religous people ?

In UK people get penalties for making christian cross signs. Boruc is nice example.

I don't know what to think about it.

What do you think about future of christian religion in Poland? In such hostile enviroment.

Where is this freedom ?

News / Are Christians prosecuted in Poland (and Europe in general)? [53]

Poland was/is subjugated to both- Soviet Union and to European Union. Try to resist to EU and you would be annexed same way how Soviet Union annexed you. Try not to obey and refuse directives from EU and you would be demonized in media, isolated and suffer same way as you suffered in the era of Soviet Union.

I agree we are seing it now.

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

Before saing good night.

Some Polish were agains help for Germans in battle of Viena (not to mention peasants who had no idea) We talk about Polish troops.

Some Turks were agains invasion on Europe still we talk about Turks.

Some Brits supported Hiter still good people won and we talk about British in WWII.

The fact is that WE HAVEN'T had HITLER IN POLAND.
BRITISH HAD CHURCHIL
Americans Roosevelt.
And Germans had their Hitler!

Germans were very entusiastic about him, yes some were against but after reading his books they could had done much more to stop him. Not Nazis - Germans

Why Christians can't be politicians in EU? Where is this freedom.

In my opinion Christian parade in Brussel would be very good idea.

With big transparents "I am Catholic I am expert Why I can't be commisioner ? "

This post is small exception. I will answer you !

You spread your religion on this forum. Atheists or pagans spread their personal believes.

Rocco is expert he speaks 6 languages he is educated and he has his personal believes.

We need Christian parades! Christians don't bite! It is possible to be christian and expert and work in EU commision.

German National Socialist is accurate. People reading this would be clearly informed that t not all Germans are to blame, just those nationalist socialists.

Ok National socialist in Poland have tinny support and Hitler was God in Germany. He wrote book about Jews Slavs etc. Bestseller and he leaded this nation.

Hitler was God in Germany, Germans loved him and it was very awared choice. It is part of history. I don't see the reason to writte about Nazi regime.

Lukasz,With all due respect I cannot indict the entire German nation for the acts of barbarians.

We talk about French colonies without anny problem we talk about American war in Vietnam. I am sure some people were against. It was German achievement. It is noticable that in press we see articles about Nazi regime. What kind of regime was that if Hitler wrote book about Jews and conquering east and majority of Germans was on his side to the moment of his first defeats.

Lesser lets agree on Nazi Germany (national socialists) is better term.

Thread attached on merging:
Similarieties between European Union and Soviet Union on Polish example.

I will give first example.

1) Christians are persecuted. When Poland was part of Soviet Union all politicians were atheist - good communists. Now in European Union we have simillar tendentions.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocco_Buttiglione

His being proposed as a European Commissioner resulted in controversy, as some political groups opposed him for his Roman Catholic views on homosexuality, despite his assurances that these were only his personal convictions and would not dictate his administration.

Is it not possible to be european politician and being Chritisian ?

This politician is sign that Christians have problems in europe. Why it is not possible to have personal christian views ?

Finaly he isn't commisioner in European commision because he is Catholic.

Where we are ? Boruc has been penaltied for making cross sign in UK. Ok there is strange situation between protestants and catholics.

Here we have Rocco who had very religous views but but it was only his opinion. He is great expert he speaks 6 languages. ... Barosso wanted him to be member of commision.

Why in europe it is not possible to have personal christian views without hiding it ?

We had similar system durring communism.

It is time to organise Christian parades.

Christians don't bite!

Anny other examples ?

I consider EU Commissioners to be parasites like Soviet Commissioners earlier. So, I definitely don't sympathize with Christian leaning socialists, still I think that this was great scandal showing only how intolerant is EU leftist establishment. They refuse to cooperate even with socialists if they don't hide their Christian faith. Imagine how those bureaucrats must hate people like myself! :)I should add that primarily France is to blame for Buttiglione case.

To avoid one pathetic figure on this forum who try to ridiculise this discussion to Germans...

In my opinion in the nearest future only Christian parades will help us. We don't bite !!! We have personal views but we are human. Sarkozy plan to make union less bureaucratic is very nice.

I agree that now we are in union where politicians should be atheist so it is very simillar to communism and indoctrination we had.

Both terms are good.

What is wrong with being Catholic. I am not racist, I will never adivce my partner to do abortion, I try to be good. I have different view on being Catholic than Rocco I'd say much different but it was his personal opinion.

There are different views on life. Atheists are better than Chritisians or what ?

I like Barosso but unfortunately one of his candiates couldn't be commisioner because of his personal believes.

It is prossecution. I am Catholic and I have christian views on life. Why I can't be agricultural commisioner or why I can't be responsible for industry in Europe ?

It is discrimination. I can't make carrer in european politics because I am Catholic.

Very SAD and DEPRESING.

What is more it seems that it will be worst and worst.

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

I agree with this point. In Poland some memorials talk about "Hitlerism".

I agree to some point.

From the other hand we start to talk about some enigmatic Nazis or Nazi regime. I prefere "German invasion on Poland" "German occupation of Poland"

Yes Germans were happy to have such leader as Hitler they were celebrating after victory over France they were celebrating after victory over Poland. German neighbours in Polish towns started to treat their neighbours like something worst.

Yes at the end of war some Germans had started to hessitate and were thinking what we are going to do with them after the war. everybody knows that many Germans were much nicer at the end of war. Still I think you are right that on monuments we should writte German occupation we should talk about Germans trying to conquer europe and kill many different nations.

I don't see reason to change hiostory books on more politicaly correct to make history nicer for Germans. I have done what they have done why we need to soften history.

There are alwyas single persons who are agianst ther government but mjaority of Germans sdored Hitler and supported him.

German soldiers were sending home everything what they robbed in Europe.

History / Polish - Soviet Brotherhood in Arms. [35]

Soviets didn't like Polish and wanted to make good commies form this nation. They expelled Polish form east but from the other hand made some space for Polish on west.

Germans wanted to exterminate all Polish.

Normal Soviet soldiers were victims of the same horrible regime as they wanted to impose on Poland. They have been fighting for the same reasons as Polsih soldiers on all fronts what is more if not their struggle there would be no Polish nation.

Maybe for single families it was worst because some people who survived German occupation and had lost members of family after thw WWII it was worst but there was no plan to exterminate all Poles like Germans wanted to do.

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

I am always thinking about it. Why we hear about Naiz killing Jews Polish Russians enslaving French Polish Russians as forced laubour in factories - not Germans.

Htiler wrote Mein Kampf and later won elections

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_Kampf

Mein Kampf (English: My Struggle/My Battle) is a book by Adolf Hitler. It combines elements of autobiography with an exposition of Hitler's National Socialist political ideology. Volume 1 of Mein Kampf was published in 1925 and volume 2 in 1926

Particularly prominent is the violent anti-Semitism of Hitler and his associates. For example, Hitler claimed that the international language Esperanto was part of a Jewish plot and makes arguments toward the old German nationalist ideas of "Drang nach Osten" and the necessity to gain Lebensraum ("living space") eastwards (especially in Russia).

His agenda was clear, and Germans voted on Hitler and his friends. Why we talk about Nazi regime ? When Hitler won in elections and Germans were very happy to have such proud leader with such agenda.

He pointed out that he is going to kick Jews and conquer east. So why we have to listen about Nazi regime.

History / Polish - Soviet Brotherhood in Arms. [35]

Smashing majority of Poles didn't want communism. The best prove is Polish Soviet war in 1920. In 1939 Soviets invaded Poland with Hitler Germany but in 1944 1945 smashing majority was happy to see defeated Germans. German occupation was nightmare. After "liberation" Poland was oppresed like all communist nations (Russia, Poland, Ukraine, east Germany etc.) In Polands case it wasn't result of revolution in Poland but rather Soviet influenece.

200 000 soldiers were marching against Germans for different reasons I mentioned beffore

I am not going to mention Katyń and other exmaples of brotherhood.

History / Only two countries in Europe did not accept XVIIIc partitions of Poland.. [54]

Weren't they Polish Americans and their trip to Poland was a private affair? I have an impression the US government specifically refused to get involved.

No that is the most interesting fact. All voluntiers weren't Polish Americans

American authors writte about it.

Leader of this squadron
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cedric_Fauntleroy

Cedric Fauntleroy (1891-1973) (sometimes also Cedric Faunt le Roy) was an American pilot who in 1919 volunteered to serve in the Polish Air Force during the Polish-Bolshevik War. Fauntleroy was an air combat veteran of the West Front in World War I. He was among the best pilots of the Polish 7th Air Escadrille, dubbed the Kościuszko Escadrille (the Kosciuszko Squadron); he war promoted to colonel and he received Poland's highest military decoration: the Virtuti Militari. The Kosciuszko Squadron made over 400 combat flights against forces from the Soviet Union and their allies. The Kosciuszko was named in honor of Tadeusz Kościuszko, the Polish officer who fought under Gen. George Washington during the American Revolution.

Americans Brirish and French sometimes were helping Poland. We had independence in 1918 because of American support. American voluntires (pilots) fighted against Soviets in 1920. French helped us in 1918 nad 1920 as well. British sometimes were very helpful.

We recived help so many times and yes I know that not always everything was perfect but still some countries are always hostile towards us - some are sometimies friendly.

I don't see the reason to forget this positive events in the past.

ctually Turks has nothing with coffee. They don`t drink it. They never used coffee and just coffee caravans travelled across Turkish territory in Anatolia. Even Turks who drink coffee doing that being influenced by EuropeansCoffee originates from Ethiopia where somebody noticed that animals who eat it becoming more active. So, people tested it and since that time coffee caravans travel to Europe

In battle of Viena Polish soldiers captured coffie and it was prepared for drinking but I believe you that Etiopians have discovered it.

I disagree. So many times countries opened aliance because of good friendship because of trust. Germans make different choices Americans make different choices, Japanese make different choices not to mention Russians. Sometimes nations just stick together. Why Hungarians being part of Axis delieverd weapons for Polish underground - it was symphaty. The same Japanise they were cooperating with Poland and in some cases supporting us even they were part of Axis. In France or UK Polish had save place in exile in some not and it was always result of events in the past. Nations have different culture. Yes in modern world we can talk about interests etc. Now we have globalisation and most of world adopted western diplomacy and that is why west has so many problems - it is not possible to give for indians trinkets as sign of friendship. Still there remian cultural differences and we should remember it.

Turks had Tatar buffor and Poland had Ukrainian buffor There are some Turkish influcnces all in all we had coffie and some goods form Turkey. I like Turks.

Wing hussars had tiger leather on their armor and it was imported form Turkey. Sobers have oriental origin as well.

News / Women's average earnings as a percentage of men's. Poland's near top. [50]

I was talking about work. Yes I am not female but I have seen article in NYT with comparison of situation in Germany and Poland. Authors pointed out that in Poland situation is much better (I am talkig about work)

This chart may be little off but still I believe in proportions. Source is reliable

Acctualy Lesser your view on female role in society is outdated. The fact is that females prefere cooperation and males prefere competition. Hi-tech, advertisment etc. companies are more about cooperation (small groups cooperating with each other) so females are strong. So in such industries there is more female leaders and managers.

and I wouldn't be surprised if in the future there will be 110% in this table.
Polish society is after transformaton and Poland isn't sexist country. I do believe that there is truth in this stats.

When we talk about British females drining alcohcol to prove that they are masculine it is result of this silent discrimination (glass ceiling). They earn much less than males in comparision to other european countries ... that is why they try to prove that they are like male.
