think its their way of saying that you're worth the expenses, you know how some people like to brag, dont feel uncomfortable...some people are modest and on the flip side some people are not...

I hurd some really mean things coming from polish people connected with a culture. For example they called the Romanians "gipsy"

British people call Irish travellers Gypsy even they are not gypsies.

I think it is a matter of how well you are educated and this to the way youy react. The germans in the same situations behaved like real genlemen, and I regret to say that polish people didn't.

I can take it only a sarcastic remark.

Saying about manners- it is strange but i think that british people have quite bad manners relating to eating.

In Poland if someone invites you for a meal at home or give you some home made cake - even if you don't like it you eat it politely.

English will make faces, moan spit....zero manners.

The same if someone invites you for dinner at home they always highlight how much they have spent on it ...just to make you feel uncomfortable.

By the way, can you tell me what to do when something like this happens again? I mean what should I say to a guy that says that a certain country is dirty?

I don't think poles would not take too kind seeing people from england cashing in at there expense. I think poles prefer doing business with there own kind and not with opportunist from wealthier countries

We have. Lots of them speak English so no problem.

If poland was to relax its laws, you will probally find a lot of Germans buying up big in the tri city (may not be good for the local pole)

Some German do but economy is much better in UK so people have more spare money to invest.

I don't think every man and his dog in england will pack his bags and move to poland because of cheap homes..sorry

Of course not because of ....climate, language barrier, culture barrier,problems with work....( not enough English pubs and fish&chips shops:) )

But there will be always people like Casper, Bubbawoo who will invest for properties in good location then sell them and make money.

Well, I read many such "personal experiences" and let me have some doubts about many of them. For example I read once a speech of some "Holocaust survivor" given in some American school, that was a woman, who was a child during WW2 and she claims that when Germans came for them, she somehow escaped, but no Poles wanted to help her, so... she lived alone in a forest for 3 years - anybody who spent winter in Poland knows that It's simply not possible, especially in case of a child.

It doesn't sound realistic for child to survive for 3 years without any help.

About helping Jews- My mum was telling me that one day during war jewman knocked my grandparents' door and ask my grandad to show him the way (go with him to another town) when somweone was waiting for him. He wanted to pay for it . My grandad was tempted to go with him by my grandmother stopped him. She said you have 3 little children if Germans catch you they will kill you and us. My grandad didn't go.Maybe he felt little guilty....but during war these were moral choices.I suppose that many Polish were eager to help Jews just not everyone was so brave and heroic.

It was my fault, my grammar structure of this sentence was bad- I meant to say that they are rich but they work hard for it. For us polish it is second language so sometimes we we made stupid mistakes.

I think that Polish communities are growing now in UK and they have impact on Catholic Church.. For instance in Peterborough there are so many polish people that every Sunday it is held extra mass in Polish in the church. There is also mass in polish club.

There are some Christmas parties, Andrzejki......But this is all in polish language....

Maybe you should have a look in your area for some polish club? This is usually club-but opened for everyone as they serve some drinks....

it is maybe bit late I decided to buy flat in krakow- 42m2 , 5900pln for 1 m2- it is good area ( still Srodmiescie). It wll be built within 2 years but price is fixed by developer.I think it is not so bad...overpriced.?

Krakow is in general quite expensive.

I buy it mainly for myself but also as a little investment.
