News / Countries in Europe where abortion is allowed/not allowed? [110]

I agree, but its not 100% I have friends that have been caught on the pill, like I have said I think that it down to a woman to decide, after all its her thats going to end up with the life long committment in the end

That is true.

I think that this is very delicate and sensitive subject......each situation is different....as you say final decision should be left to woman.

Love / Are Polish men generally possessive? [51]

Yes, a lot of men think that they must be cool and aloof to be a man. I think, it is the English culture which teaches the men to be reserved and not emotional. Polish men are able to show their feelings and say their thoughts.

I suppose they are emotional but keep it hidden.

Rubbish !!! I'm always crying my eyes out!!!...

......watching Tom and Jerry...:) :)

3. You thought eating sour cream sandwiches with sugar sprinkled on top of it was absolutely normal. (I ate it when I was a kid and thought it was normal....)

I ate them as a child. But it was proper cream made of (my grandmum's) fesh milk cow milk.:)

Love / Are Polish men different depending on what region they're from? [12]

Dispite his very good looks I would rather walk over hot coals than go out with him again...

Doesn't sound good. Too opinionated and self centred.Unfortunatelu guys like this are everywhere.:(

lol, my fiance from Poland but living in London for the past 25 years has told me that the English are very snooty hardly ever speak especially to a stranger, now I'm confused

Not really, I think that it really depends on person. In general in pubs after few drinks English are quite outgoing and chatty.....

Sober....it depends on curcumstances, place.....

I prefer them much more that sweets in UK.

I haven't been long in USa ( about 6 weeks) but i remmebr that everything was quite sweet.

Youghurts were more sweet than in Europe....

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

Krysia,

I sometimes think that it is still in people minds like it was in 80-90 empty shops...

They had to fight for everything, looking for people jumping in front of the queue.....

Life / Poland is wearing me down. :( Polish excuses... [30]

Nauczyciel you always moan about your relation with polish people.
But the same hppens to polish living in USA, Uk.
Different culture, behaviur ....feeling alienated.

In my first job in UK there were 3 women in my team who completely didn't accept me - I don't know why I think probbaly I was learning too quickly was too educated....was I thread to them? I don't know.

I was making a plan to meet with a married couple (i work with the wife and we've all been out before) for some drinks on Saturday night. we talked on GG then she went offline. i SMSd her about 15 min later asking what happened. She claimed no internet connection. So i then SMSd back and said that i will come to the city and find a place and we will meet. I didn't hear back from her. I waited 30 min. I then SMSd her and said...."ok thanks for writing back to me. I guess you don't want to do anything, so papa"

I have impression that you are bit lonely and used to going out . Maybe you put some pressure on people wanting going out with them but they are too polite to say not and make stupid excuses.

I don't want generalise but Polish people don't spend so much time in pubs, bars like some other nations.
Reason could be money , different customs ....

I don't know much about teachers but i have heard that they can be bit funny and ****** in Poland.

Maybe you should change school, town........meet different people.

Life / Do Polish people respect other cultures? [96]

However, from what I have seen of the Polish in the UK they are definitely more 'old fashioned' and have better manners than modern British people- I think this is due to Poland being a more traditional, disciplined and less wealthy nation.

I agree.

Life / Do Polish people respect other cultures? [96]

I also quite like handed down recipes. I prefer someone's recipe who already did it and was good that trying from books.

it is sometimes more diffcult to write ( than to say ) what I mean without offending other people.
I would not like to make impression that I mix with so awful people here or that I came here, live here and moan about local people.

it is probbaly more that I like observing people in general and notice little things.

And it is exactly what you said manners don't always go with money or education.

I know one family in Poland poor, not educated but their children behaviour is so good.

Life / Do Polish people respect other cultures? [96]

I probably mixed with different people and I didn't say that all English are like that but....some are.

It seems that I touched some delicate point here.

I met more people with bad manners in UK during my 4.5 years than I met in Poland during my 30 years. And even those uneducated less inteligent people I met in Poland had mostly good manners.

not 'average' as you say.

I depends what someone means by average....people working ( admin jobs) living in their own houses...I would describe them as average

Life / Poles' tolerance towards other Races [190]

Jan 12, 07 [14:53] - Attached on merging:
tolerance towards other races

There are quite a few people on this forum who assume that Polish are not tolerant becuse we are not multi-cultural country.
I don't agree with it and find it little annoying.

What about UK, France, Germany,USA .......are they so tolerant? Not really, multi - culture is imposed on them and they don't have choice that is why there are so many ethnic districts there.

Life / Black people in Poland [357]

The are really far from the multiethnic society that you can find in the "civilized" europe (UK, France, Germany, Spain,...) or in U.S. Good luck!

Which are in huge tolerance crisis.

It is strange how different perception people have.
You enjoy Poland and see lots positive things there.
There was article today on Onet about polish emgration.
Some people say we want to move abroad to normal country to bring up our children there ? Which country is so normal? I think it is like in this saying that ( I don't remmber exact words) that grass is always greener at our neighbours.....

Real Estate / Apartment purchase in Poland [226]

Krakow is becoming bit expensive now....

Anyway I am buying flat there ( in new developement will be built in abouty 18 months).

Tri city is quite good for English as you like sea and seasides - it is a bit like in Uk I suppose...cold water, windy....

and i think people are rude because of the flak we get from some for buying polish property...

I don't mind it is good that you find Poland attractive.
