UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland, are they second class citizens? [90]

I am not so sure what is second class citizen?- discriminated against local people to find a job?
Or I would say Polish who is illegal in USA could be second class citizen. Probbaly the same about...Ukrainian (as they are not UE) being in England, France.....

lef,

You shouldn't believe too much what is in the papers- they always exaggerate.

But If someone doesn't have any money, doesn't speak English what can he expect? That Irish employees are waiting there for him?

Life / Polish Men and Fashion [90]

UK, Ireland / Stop the exploitation of Polish workers in the UK [101]

I agree with you. I suppose it like someone's priority to spend money.

About 2 weeks ago we spent quite much money with my husband's friends from London. It was really good night I don't remember when I had last time so much laugh but I couldn't do it all tle time just too expensive.

For me personally I would probbaly save some money and go someone for a week that just spend on nights out only.

I don't know about the dancing .....my generation in Poland liked dancing but I dont know maybe it has changed now.

News / Poland- Visa Waiver Program [55]

yes that's a big advantage i agree but as my passion is birwatching(birds with feathers!) it would be interesting to go one day to the new world and see a few of your total 1500 species of birds in america(compared to europes 650 species it is quite a lot)

Rafik, Are you proper birdwatcher with binoculars?

I quite like birds especially since I bought my 2 little canaries.:)

Work / So where are all you unemployed hard done by workers then????? [35]

The Poles are doing what the English would do under the same circumstances, looking for a better life that simply isn't available at home.

Life is not better here only value of pounds- it is only one thing that attracts people.

Why don't you blame your leftie government but Polish people?

Maybe go for a walk and have a look who lives on council estates and sucks your society?

I can't see there many polish who work in England , and also pay taxes for those suckers good life.

I have been living here for 4 years , work all the time didn't even use your crap NHS with long queues and dirty hospitals.

England has tried to advance from the days of brainless racism, homophobia and prejudice and alot of us find the behaviour of young Polish men (racially abusing people in Londons streets) very unpleasant.

Quite interesting- I think that in a last years few innocent , black boys were killed- and such a surprise!!! not by polish but by those nice, tolerant british boys.

Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

I suppose USA is big so there is more room for bigger houses. I guess coparing to Europe land is cheaper. Maybe except places like NY?

I have family in USA and they have big house but in not very good area and she started comparing her house to mine small but in quite nice era. There is no point.

In USA, England.... praice is mainly location,location......

is it the so strong in Poland? I mean cheap and expensive areas within town? I suppose a little in Krakow Srodmiescie, krowodrza are expesnsive, Nowa Huta is getting less popular.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

this is the biggest BS i have ever heard.why don't they write about people who have made it?they like a cheap sensation cos ALL the people i know are well off and just a few were unsuccesfull

exactly.

I don'tt know if you read Daily mail last Thursday saying"Peterboroug taken over by Poles"- I like England and I understand that it was kind of warning that there are more Polish here than they estimated so it is warning for them about Bulgaria and Romania.

But it article was just not true- you can't believe journalists- they say that 2.5 years ago( before big emigrations from east europe) Millfield area of peterborough was such a pleasant place everyone was saying everyone Hello on the street. My husband has been living for 15 years in peterborough and this area was always rough.

Love / Polish interracial dating [333]

Well I already know that when I get there, I will get looks. Not hateful looks, just curious looks.

You are right. I don't think polish in general are racist in aggresive way it is more curiosity.

My mum knew couple : he is vet from africa his wife is polish. She comes from small town near Krakow. I think they married about 10 years ago. When he first visited her it was a little shock in this town. But I think their love, commitment was so strong that they married ,have 2 children. He works as a vet, speaks good polish. He likes animals and is good vet so he has ever so many customers. People like him, respect...

it sometimes takes time for people to get used to ..... that is all.

Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

So Krakow seems to be so expensive.

But I suppose to do these comparisons correctly we should compare similar properties in similar locations.
In Krakow I think 2 bedroom flat ( in our polish description 3 rooms ) can vary from about 150 000- 300 000- I am not so sure But it depends on locations and if it sit old or new property. Again Which town in Australia or England can we compare to Krakow or Zamosc?

In England prices drop going north from London but again I suppose big towns like Manchester, Newcastle...are still quite expensive.

Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

Income and Wages determine the price of homes in most countries.(poland has low income)

Did anyone compared- average incone and property price in Poland, England....Australia.

I think that English house prices are very high comparing to average income? I am not so sure if it is much difference that in Poland.

UK, Ireland / Stop the exploitation of Polish workers in the UK [101]

I think that in the end of the day- everyone is different and have different temperament doesn't much matter nationality.
I have polish friend- girl she likes going out a lot.

I liked going out when I was in my 20 -ties.
Now in my 30-ies I like to go for a drink to nice pub, for a meal.....- hate loud pubs with music on the full.

I mean I would like it if we were dancing .

What is it about English? I have impression that they don't like dancing? embarassment ?

yes i agree.i prefer to stay at home with a pack of friends.don't get me wrong i do go out but not too often.i don't like noisy pubs i prefer restaurants(good food ect).

I am the same- but I don't say it often as some people give me strange look. It seems to be cool to go out here as much as possible otherwise you are "boring" not cool.

There is one thing I don understand- Why if people don't dance music in some pubs is so loud that everyone has to shout all the time???? What is the logic of it??????

UK, Ireland / Stop the exploitation of Polish workers in the UK [101]

Yes its a shame some Polish people dont get out and about i work with many but getting them out and bout can be quite hard work. They seem to enjoy having there own house partys with there fellow housemates but i suppose they are saving there money hard while paying bills food etc and going out now days is quite costly.

I think it is difference in our cultures- I don't think that polish go out as much as british.
We do but less often I suppose.

I was reading somewhere -I don't know how they count it- that British eat more out than at home.( I suppose these included take aways).

I don;t know about bars, pubs- I Krakow they are always busy but in smaller towns ?

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

Ola,

I wouldn't believe much what people say on some forums in general . There are lots weird, frustrated people writing lots of s.....
I sometimes open our polish ONET- some people there are so horrible. I would not say that they are really good representation of our nation.

The best for you- come to England for few weeks, months and see how you would feel.

I didn't have much problems to find a work here similar to what I was doing in Poland - working in a Bank.

Your English is good I don't know what is your education or work experience but you shouldn't have much problems to find work.

To be honest during my interviews noone judged me by my nationality but by experience, education.

UK, Ireland / English people attitude towards Poles? [761]

ola,

I have been living here for 4 years and I think that British are quite tolerant nation.
If you want to move abroad I suppose England is not bad place.
It depends how easy you adopt to different environment- Some people do it quickly some slowly some never and come back.

Love / Gift for Polish girls - question [56]

I think flowers, books, CD are more indifferent gifts- for friends , girlfriends
Jewels, clothes- if man buys it for woman it is becoming more private- it is more for closer relationship.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

Well most of dont believe that - but there is the fact that some companies will pay Polish workers less and it's a competitive market and this will drive wages down in a country that has high taxes and a inflated house prices - it's difficult.

that is true but it is difficult to control it.
It is the same in USA lots illegal workers who don't pay taxes are paid less than minimum.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

Now more than ever in today's global economy you will find that intelligent,open-minded young people are similar throughout the world. In fact, you will probably have more in common and a similar outlook on life with intelligent, travelled young people in India and China than with less intelligent, less travelled people in your own country. Its mostly ignorance that causes problems

I agree with you. I didn't want to write it not to sound a little snobbish but it is true.
It is strange but open-mindeness and education make people so similar.
And you always find bigots, racists people with narrow minds.

When I hear about polish in England- some people opinions are so.....bad.
I agree as there are so many of us here that not all are perfect you find few thieves, rough people. But in general we easy adopt, learn english , work hard have good education and skills.

Few days ago there was article in Daily Express that polish workers cause unemployment in England? Where? I thought they fill workplaces where employers were struggling to find someone. Another thing is if some some polish people work better than English - I thought that in England it is free and competitive market so employer choose better person.Just capitalism.

I can only speak from my own experience. They were the people i met.

I suppose you are right younger generation is different.Older people feel maybe some bitternes, they were brought up in different way.

News / Poland- Visa Waiver Program [55]

responsibilities. Hope it works out well. Any suggestions to better her chances? Yeah man I'm all for it. I just don't see it as fair. my GF is trying to get a tourist Visa now. I hope it will be a little easier. I sent a letter and filled out a form with my financial status and

It should help- if you have good financial situation and offer to look after your girlfriend in USA.

I applied for visa about 7 years ago- I got 10 years touristic visa. I brough with me all paperwork showing that I was independent in Poland - my flat ovnership deed, confirmation from my work about slalary, bank statements. They are afraid that too many polish people will go to USA stay for longer work without paying taxes.

But it has changed now- it is better to look for legal work in Europe, and yes USD seems to be quite weak now.

Real Estate / Real estate in poland - how an average Pole can afford such prices? [78]

poland has silly rules regarding real estate.

In oz land if you have no conscience you become a real estate salesman.. I carn't understand that in poland real estate agents can act on on behalf of the seller and the purchaser (what about conflict of interest)????

not different that anywhere else- except some law requirements in Poland ( ownership dees, notary contacts...).
