Language / SŁUCHAĆ, or PRZYSŁUCHIWAĆ SIĘ? [53]

"Przesłuchiwać się" means, I believe, to interrogate.

to interrogate yourself so się can't stand here

but

przysłuchiwać się rozmowie is correct

Travel / Poland: What should I look forward to or avoid? Is it fun to visit? [34]

3. Most likely you will be robbed - be prepared for that

It's hard to believe, especially when you are 30 years old. As distinct from UK, Polish teenagers don't attack old guys. They may ask you for mobile phone if you are 16 yo but no 30yo. Pickpocketing yes but robbery I don't think so.

UK, Ireland / Poles claim UK benefits after working only one year instead of going home [156]

British people have been paying national insurance for their whole lives, polish newcomers pay a pittance and ride out the recession on the british tax payers expense

What was first law, agreement, rules, regulations or Poles?
If you are unhappy with that just change the regulations. Do not expect that people won't be very well-versed.

Work / Advice on moving to Wroclaw and job prospects [3]

Has anyone got any advice on job prospects

If working for state-owned company Polish electrician can earn about 500-600 pouds per month but it is hard to join the wolves. In private-owned company you can expect about 300-400 pounds per month. When self-employed you can earn about 2000 pounds per month maybe more.

Love / Questions about Polish women [17]

Questions about Polish women

Polish girls are mysterious beautiful angels who are very attractive. Polish girls are a different breed and there are certain rules that you need to follow when you wish to date them. They are girls from Poland the land which plays host to these amazing women.

When you are dating Polish girls, do not treat them like aliens. Men do this a lot. You should therefore introduce your girlfriend to your friends and not be ashamed of her.

Do not assume that Polish girls do not understand certain things. They are modern girls who are more aware and more educated. There are men who still believe that some girls cannot even drive. Do not be ignorant in this sense.

popłakałem się :)

Language / pedestrian crossing and traffic lights - motion/na + Locative case? [7]

We are being taught that it is OK to say:Idź prosto na pasach

Idź prosto na pasach is incorrect and sounds strange even if colloquial expression and I think it is made by your teacher ;)

In case you have any doubts put sentence in Google "this exact wording or phrase" blank and check results counter.

Language / pedestrian crossing and traffic lights - motion/na + Locative case? [7]

You will need to go straight ahead to the zebra crossing, and then you'll need to turn left

Idź prosto aż do przejścia dla pieszych i potem skręć w lewo.

You have to go to the lights, and then turn right

Idź aż do świateł i potem skręć w prawo.

UK, Ireland / List of goods taken from living in the UK [64]

The taste is damn good but the lasting freshness is far from ideal.

Yup. This probably indicates that it contains less of ulepszacze (preservatives).

List of goods taken from living in the UK

amazing cheap cars, amazing blue sky, no fear about car, house, no heavy multilayer titanium front door any more, laid-back people, living in slow motion, amazing moments when natives singing the song along with the radio ;)

you never fully appreciate something until you lost it.

UK, Ireland / going to uk to look for a cad job - are there any left? [21]

If you didn't plan to settle here, they might be put off hiring you as they might see it as a waste of their time and money.

As distinct from Poland where kitchen porter has to have PhD and a working knowledge of two foreign languages, sometimes they don't hire you if you are overskilled for the position. They consider you will be unhappy at work and escape at the earliest opportunity.

UK, Ireland / going to uk to look for a cad job - are there any left? [21]

i would like to get info from poles living in uk if there are still jobs to be found.

In fact I'm not living in UK at the moment but still looking for another job. It is difficult to find job by remote because you have to be available immediately for interview. You have to take competition into consideration too. They won't wait for you. The best way is to take any job in UK and then continue to apply for dream job.

Love / My Polish boyfriend and his drinking habit. [60]

he wants to go out drinking after work every night

It looks like he has a problem with alcohol.

I told him to clean it up but he said f*** off that's your job

Kick him in the ass as he has to reach the escape velocity.

is this just how Polish men are??

Polish men are hard-working, money-obsessed guys. They work from dawn to dusk, take overtime and then sleep like a stone. They don't have a time for drinking and above all they love their driving licences ;)
