Clement Attlee and Labour's desire to build better ties with the Soviets invited Communist Poland to take part in the parade. At the same time, in an action to appease Stalin, Labour barred Poles fighting under British command.
Ernest Bevin was all too eager to stick the Poles into the maelstrom by stating that it was the Poles' "duty" to "return to their home country without further delay".
The RAF protested, who backed their Polish brothers, protested. In the end Labour relented and belatedly (with great unhappiness) invited the fliers.
The Polish pilots, in solidarity to their brothers in the army and navy, refused.
Winston Churchill: "They will be in our hearts on that day."
Air Marshall Phillip Joubert de Ferte: "Are we too feeble to stand up to those who attempt to bully us?"
Harold Macmillan to General Anders: "With all the legitimate joy and pride in every British heart will be mingled much sorrow and even shame."

1772: Prussia, Russia, Austria
Remember what Fredrick the Great said about devouring Polish provinces "like an artichoke, leaf by leaf"?
Prussia & Russia increased their territory in 1792, the second partition.
All three: Prussia, Russia, Austria obtained more territory in 1794. The Commonwealth was erased; this was the third partition.
And let us not forget the partition of 1939: the Soviet - Nazi partition.
There was never a single partition of Poland!

Excellent point... At the end of the war the Soviets were in no position to push west. They did not have the necessary manpower, did not have the logistics, and did not have the quality of air power that the allies had.
Enough to allow Soviet industrial production to recover from early German successes and meet the increased equipment requirement Soviet forces needed to defeat the Nazis on the Eastern Front.

Wrong; the main reason was the estimated number of casualties resulting from an invasion of Japan.
Theres always a choice, the main excuse was the fact the the Japs bombed Pearl harbour unannounced.

Your point being what? That the Russians could mass produce a rugged killing machine? Thus the number of Russian tanks to be killed just happened to be the T-34? Are you sure all of those kills were due to the "flawed" T-34 and not the individual responsible for the T-34?
How many of the 1600 russian tanks shot down at Kursk had been T-34's...hmmm...:)

Hands down the T-34. The T34 was tough, maneuverable, reliable, and could cross virtually any type of terrain.
The main gun specification of the King Tiger was a hybrid of the 88mm anti-aircraft gun. Although the 88mm was initially designed for an anti aircraft role, it proved to be an excellent tank killer.
The King Tiger was not an open field tank. Because of the size and weight of the King Tiger had its share of problems. It suffered mechanically with many breakdowns and had poor maneuverability. The infrastructure (roads/bridges) was not suitable for a tank of this size. The fuel requirements of the King Tiger were enormous. Many King Tigers were abandoned due to lack of fuel rather then being destroyed during the offensive in the Ardennes.
