UK, Ireland / UK is Poles apart from home [39]

nor am I trying "punish the poor" by not allowing them to have children, Sophia. Just having an opinion.

No, I know that - I'm just saying it would be as such to expect families of such income/life quality not to have children or to wait when they may never be better off.

I just think it's a sad world that their life above a butchers shop in Barking is actually better than what they might have had in their home country.

Yeah.

Love / What is Sexy to men and women in Poland? [101]

i found it...weird..

I think that is what I liked about it. It was the first time I'd seen such a style too. Did it not win an oscar or some major award?

to keep on topic...um

Lol.

Something I find sexy - men who don't feel the need to prove themselves if they get teased about something.

UK, Ireland / Poles returning to Poland from UK [21]

Most Poles I speak to say they will be here another 2 years or more but see no sense in heading back to Poland before then.

I was speaking to a woman the other day who said she would love to be back in Poland just now but it is not a sensible move for her just now. Once she earns enough, her future is in Poland but for now she sees no improvement in Poland to tempt her back.

UK, Ireland / Pictures of Kirkham & Wesham FC parade [10]

With that crap on their heads ?

I suspected that could be the reason ;P I remember years ago my Dad handed me a green and white version and it wasn't received well.

I have the number "9" on (not the front row) on my front chest..!

I hope not the front row..or G is a perv hehe [well..worse than a perv..]

The one near the middle of the pic?

Food / What's is in this Polish can? [29]

translatica.pl tells me this:

A Tyrolean tin is a product made out of the pork and cow meat, pork crusts and the potato flour with the addition of vegetables and aromatic-taste spices

translated from this site : Tyrolska product

Now maybe someone who knows can answer lol. I think you are safe with it though hehe...maybe...

edit: don't often see you around here any more Babi!

Life / Egg Painting tradition - still alive in Poland? [7]

It is a very nice tradition. Current popularity isn't really discussed in it but I thought I'd highlight this thread: [polishforums.com/pisanki-38_7638_0.html] - Pisanki and maybe add a wiki link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_pisanka

UK, Ireland / Tell me about Glasgow [59]

In Glasgow it is compulsory for females to wear orange make up all year round.

The 'tange' style my friends and I always laughed at

Life / Polish Integration with other Nationalities [150]

Why is it white people are called racists because they prefer not to date people of a different colour

I don't know if I'd call that racist as I may have thought before. I'm thinking it depends on the reasons and thinking behind that. One man said to me he wouldn't date a woman who was not white because he wouldn't be attracted to her. He said skin colour is not something we choose, in the way we are born with this colour of hair or eyes or whatever. So if we can prefer a certain colour of eyes in a person for our attraction to occur - why not colour of skin without it being racist? I found it an interesting point of view and am uncertain of it. Yet it was logical. I could only say for myself, I hope a single aesthetic could not put me off if someone stands out to me with their personality or even other physical traits. I can like blue eyes in a man or so on, but it would not be the sway in feeling an attraction or not I think if his eyes were green.

Edit: I know this isn't really the point of the thread but I felt like sharing that musing...

News / ARE LATVIANS AND OTHER 'BALTICS' HOSTILE TOWARDS POLES? [60]

has been relegated to off-topic lounge

Sorry, Puzzler it was actually I who posted it in Random chat as it was only random that I remembered it. I'll repost my response here instead?

Would you allow me to keep it in my personal archive and use in my future book on Poles in UK?

You may, Puzzler. I was very surprised, myself, as I had no hint from her before of such feeling but I think what you say does apply to her. I know there is a man at work my friend met whilst in town. They went for a drink together. He is Estonian and my friend said he drunkenly rambled on about his dislike of Polish people and repeatedly made signs of throat-cutting when he spoke of them. I have to say for both though, that they do speak to the Polish people at work - so this feeling seems hidden generally.

On the other hand, I was speaking to another Latvian woman about going and she was completely different and thought I'd have a wonderful time.

these nations are usually very pro-German

That is interesting to hear. I wonder if this influenced another Latvian woman in her drawings on a surface at work. She was quite taken with the Swastika symbol, it seemed. I hope it was a simple, mindless doodle.

Have a good time in Poland, you and your family.

Thank you :)

Nothing underhand to report in moving of posts, all is well :)

Life / WINKING - A GOOD POLISH SIGN??? [28]

put your both hands on your hips - wait for 4 seconds - then reach your arm toward him with open palm of your hand. Yousing your pointing finger call him over to you and talk.

That reminds me of when I was telling my Polish friend what the word 'bast*rd' translated as. Hahaha laziest way to get someone to come over ;)

Love / This is probably going to be silly but.. I really want a Polish boyfriend [44]

Get out there and meet someone Polish then and just be yourself. If the chemistry is there, it could lead to all you want. Many people are in Polish/Non-Polish relationships, no saying you aren't going to be too. One thing at a time though...don't scare him with talk of marriage haha.

Love / My Polish boyfriend fancies are Pakistani neighbor. What do I do ? [291]

It sounds like you're out the door if she shows enough interest in him. Have more respect for yourself than begging him to stay with you. You should be with someone who doesn't count you as a 2nd prize until he can get his hands on the first.. Be with someone who truly wants you.

Something made me think this was a regular to the forum winding us up...

Life / WINKING - A GOOD POLISH SIGN??? [28]

I say bite the bullet and ask him to accompany you for a coffee! Hehe...it is always easy to tell people what they should do even when you know you, yourself, wouldn't...
