Love / Fallen for a Polish Guy!! But he's got back to Poland to get married! [71]

Why has he left me?

He seems like a jerk and you should stay away from him. I think he just likes the idea of having you fawn after him while he has a woman back home. He sounds like a worthless excuse for a man.

i'm sick of all these Polish tossers who leave their wives, girlfriends and fiancees back in Poland

There are men like that from every nation. Sleaziness does not discriminate :)

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

I think its both. From my experiences in Poland, I didn't see nearly as many people eating fast food as I did when visiting the US, London and in Toronto (where I live). Fast food has loads of sodium (as well as other crap) and very little nutritious value. When I was a kid and I'd visit my grandmother for the summer, I'd always lose a few pounds even though I wasn't eating any less or moving more than I would in Toronto (as a kid, we'd pretty much play the same games in Canada as in Poland).

USA, Canada / For Polish Immigrants - What do you miss from your home country? [7]

the food. Even though you can buy organic veggies in Canada, they just taste different in Poland. Everything is delicious (other than milk fresh from a cow, thats just gross)

I also miss my babcia who refuses to move to Canada.

There are overweight people in Poland. Believe me. lol

Yes there definitely are those lol! However, the are nowhere near as many fat people in Poland as there are in the US, UK, Canada, Australia etc.. (never mind obesity rates). According to a report by the World Health Org (WHO), Poland is #98 of 194 while the US is 9, Australia is 21, UK is 28, Canada is 35 etc.. So obviously they're doing something right by eating veggies in the morning :)

Back to the topic:
When you have hiccups someone comes up from behind you and puts their hand over your mouth and nose to scare the hiccups off. My mom does this to me and its very unkind lol

Correct. This is how it is most places in te world I imagine.
If I went to Poland and had curry for breakfast people wouldnt think that somewhat unusual? Or is it that Poles are just so easygoing about individual choices compared to Brits that they wouldnt even notice?

Agree with you there 100%. If my mom made the following for breakfast, I would probably throw up. (the eggs and toast are okay, but the rest of it? bleh.

UK food

ie, in Poland if you ate beans on top of fried bread and sausages for breakfast, people would also ridicule. It definitely is a cultural thing.

"The traditional English breakfast consists of eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, baked beans and mushrooms. Even though not many people will eat this for breakfast today, it is always served in hotels and guest houses around Britain."

Eating vegatables for breakfast.

Sometimes when I eat sandwiches for breakfast they have vegetables on them (ie tomato, cucumber, lettuce). How is that weird?
Its no more weird than cheesecake flavoured yogurt (which I had in the UK)...

thats a g string................ thongs are shoes on ya feet.......... Hahahahahah. bloody hell i dont think i would mean wearing your knickers on the street.... sheeeeeez.

Thongs are also referred to as butt floss! I got the same gross visual as the others lol!

I thought about one more: Glass window on the bathroom door. What`s that for?

Making it easy to be a peeping tom?

USA, Canada / advice on where to live in Canada [64]

Ahhh, but Mississauga has Starsky! Finest European foods, and a deli counter almost a mile long!

Starsky is awesome. We go there every week to do our grocery shopping :)

doesn't it have a wee bit shady fame though;). Have never been there myself, just heard;)

that it does

the way little kids can get cigarettes for "their parents" at the store even tho they are like 5!

My grandfather used to send my sister and me to the store to get him some beer when we were 8/9. Good times :)

USA, Canada / advice on where to live in Canada [64]

Toronto isn't that bad! I live in the Tdot and love it. I don't live downtown though (and would never want to lol). towns within the GTA are great. Etobicoke is a personal fave of mine. Mississuaga is another good one. In Mississauga you can also get a decently sized home for a decent price, and lots of Polish communities in Mississauaga too. Mississauga is the home of Fregata! LOL

UK, Ireland / What's So Great About The UK? [416]

Well, I was there on vacation with my sister and parents. It would be kind of skanky if I did LOL!

UK is a nice region, but I don't know if I'd say its the best in the world :)

Feedback / Poster's gender not included - bad for translations. [15]

Other thing: the date and time of the post should (in my humble opinion) be better visible (larger font or in bold or simply darker, the current colour, light grey, makes them much harder to notice).

I agree with this. The faded gray color is hardly noticeable.

Language / "polish pig" - is it offensive? [41]

which may not be an insult necessarily.

I know it doesn't have to be bad but it can have negative connotations. Its a phrase that can be used as an insult towards the way that someone eats. It doesn't bother me personally but I wouldn't consider it a neutral term either.

Language / "polish pig" - is it offensive? [41]

The word "pig" is offensive to anyone. English pig, Polish big, fat pig, stupid pig etc. It's an insult.

Don't forget 'pigging out'!

The word cow is also an insult but used mainly at girls.

Isn't it odd that calling a guy a 'bull' usually has the opposite effect?

Language / "polish pig" - is it offensive? [41]

I've never heard of this "Polish Pig" phrase. I've heard people being called pigs (men being players are called pigs, overweight people are called that by immature brats etc) but I've never heard it being an exclusionary Polish thing.

Personally, I'd find it offensive if someone called me a "Polish Pig". But then, I find it annoying to be called a "Polish Princess"

UK, Ireland / Polish girl married a British guy - when will she become British citizen? [29]

Opening up th eE.U. now presents an epidemic around the whole World as the influx of Poles now corrupts mankind in every sphere around the entire globe..

This made me laugh. LMAO! Michal, do you even realize how ridiculous you sound?

That was one long sentence. Maybe if you were more literate you wouldn't feel so threatened. The intelligent people on here have concerns also (who can blame them for that?) but you sound like a paranoid little troll.

Love / Does she like me? - help needed please from any Polish girls.. [79]

ah well, I do my best. I just can't stand seeing guys being played around by cunning females who in the end get everything and the guys end up with nothing and in worst cases even the rep of being a pervert or *sshole. If a girl is not interested in a guy, ok, that can happen, but she should just SAY so. At least I say it straight to a girl when I'm not interested. It might be tough to say, but at least it's fair and honest. Unfortunately women come up with excuses and stories, leaving the guy guessing what it is all about. .

Some men are just as bad. One guy completely stopped contacting me out of the blue for a few weeks because he thought I wanted to ruin his freedom. I was 20 years old at the time and he actually thought I was trying to 'trap' him into marriage. What a doorknob! If he actually told me what he was worried about, I would have put him to ease by telling him that I'm not getting married any time soon :S. He was pretty dense, I have to admit.

back go the topic: She's being a c*nt, from what it sounds like. She likes the idea of having you fawn at her, but she probably doesn't want to be with you. She likes having you there because you flatter her. Let her find someone else that will put up with her BS.

If a woman I'm interested in says to me "let's just be friends" I basically tell her that, yeah. And I actually mean it as well. Thing is, it's just not possible (at least not for me) to be friends with a woman I adore. Hear all the freakin' and excruciating details on how she went on a date with some other dude? No way. Bottom line is: she rejected your feelings

Great post MG! After being rejected, I would have a hard time pretending to be okay with being "friends". Why put yourself through that?
