Well we know it was against the nazis but the traditional costume the victor is wearing appears to be European. Other than that I have no idea.

the victor is polish but i think the picture has been drawn by foreigner couse it's more like a caricature of krakow's folk costume. maybe it's british or american poster.

maybe it's british or american poster.

I would assume also that if the British or Americans were to make such a poster they would put themselves in it, although just trying to get Polish people to fight might have been enough, why's it in English? I have never seen anything like it.

What about Nazi anti-polish posters? There must have been alot but somehow I can't find any...

The seemingly lack of them is really interesting, don't you think?

....just propaganda, not so successful! :)

the poster has been created during Warsaw Uprising and they were very thrifty :)
but forget it, just say it loud: KAZDY POCISK JEDEN NIEMIEC. it still sounds like a music to the ears, isn't it? :)

That is some heavy stuff there Crnogorac7 again very interesting.

I do not know where this thread is going...
But the visuals are amazing, It must be incredible working for the propaganda machine on any side.
To go to work each day and dream up the most nightmarish stuff, truly fascinating, you would go a wee bit bonkers though.

I don't under stand the text but the message, I think is clear enough.

There seems to be similarities in all of these.
There are 5 stereotypes :-

1. The peasant

2. the soldier

3. The fat cat

4. The brains behind it all

5. The viewer

I include the viewer because it is important who he is.

You could probably change the wording or a little symbol and use it against the people who made it?

Polish never sounds like music..sorry! :):):)

PS: And still no Nazi anti-polish poster...didn't they need one???
Interesting!

Not really! This saying existed long before and was actually a good one...

I know that one it is the entrance to Auschwitz.
puercoespin, does that mean "Work will free you"?

I have been thinking about this topic a lot.

The first world war, I always thought it was amazing that WW1 was called "The Great War", perhaps language has changed since then?

  • Uncle Sam

  • British Kinda Bull Dog WW1

  • I love this one, very persuasive in my opinion

Well, even so...we had still alot of posters too...

It's just mystifying that there aren't any anti-polish ones! What could that mean?
Maybe that the Poles weren't seen as enemies like the Bolscheviks or the Jews in the first place? Hmm....I'm really wondering here...

alot of posters too

Holy Moly, they are scary :)

Some of the Nazi stuff looks really gay to me.
Even some of the videos linger on the young men just a little too long, if you know what I mean.
Perhaps it is just my perception but see for yourself, see what I mean?

I think it was the fashion of the time...the stalinist poster aren't exactly the disabled, glass wearing neighbour sort either! :)
But I don't see exactly gayness in them, especially not in the children/youth poster...he isn't that pretty....

But if that isn't gay then I don't know! :):):)

Damn, I saw this poster in a book about Soviet armor in aggression on Poland in '39 and it became my favourite Soviet poster of all times :)

The quote (from Stalin, obviously) says: 'Our army is the one for liberation of the woking ones'. It doesn't say what kind of 'liberation' Great Stalin had on his Great Mind :)

Germans???

Propaganda posters actually are used to boost the morale, the will to fight, to de-humanize and of course to point out the enemy!
But there is an interesting lack of anti-polish posters...I had somehow expected a similiar denigrating sort of as against Jews and Reds...but there aren't any (or I'm just not finding them)..

Looks like an Aryan: :)
